Should I buy this Torque Multiplier? $105

It's a HF unit...doesn't look like it's made anymore. Dude wants $105

Saw a couple threads on other forums from 2009ish saying they used it and that was about it....no real reviews.

I read it is 3:1 ratio. 3/4" in-650ft lbs max, 1" out 2,000 ft lbs max. (I have 3/4" and 1" socket sets)

I have the Snap On 3/4 Torque Wrench, so I really don't need this for adding a 1/2" torque wrench to, but I'd like to have one for "one day might need it" for busting stuff loose etc.

Are these absolutely terrible, or are they a PASS from HF?

You'd have to hold onto that handle pretty damn hard to actually be able to apply 2000ft-ibs to something...

The tool is going to twist backwards with an equal amount of force to what you're applying to the fastener.

Not a handle, it's a reaction bar. You have to brace it against something solid (like the floor)

It's a torque MULTIPLIER . . . it's purpose IS to create extra torque to break loose stubborn fasteners like axle nut shown in picture.

Wish a friend of mine had one when brother was struggling with Dodge diesel front "bearing assembly" that was rusted on. Instead, a torch and cheater bar were used, but with much struggle

Pretty sure variation of multiplier is what's used by that demo of woman easily loosening lugs on 18 wheel tractor, in prior GJ thread.

OP if you've got project or two that will use the multiplier, then go for it as $100 spent will likely yield you time & hassle savings.

Thanks guys. Yea, I don't need it for torque. I have the 3/4" Snappy for that.

But, if I watch the ebay, I can grab a USA made one, without ratchet (which I have several) for about $150ish.

And a little more I could just pick up a used IR 3/4 rattle gun.

Incorrect in your purpose. They are use for torquing parts together that have very large torque values. Not for breaking free stuff.

Mohawk, I really not sure if you will ever need it. I have a 0-600 ft/lb torque wrench and haven't needed anything else. Are TM's handy? Can be, but I think I would save my money on that HF multiplier and spend it elsewhere.
