Yeltdog, there is a nice piece there on mitered half lap frames. I have developed a habit of picking up every miter box and big back saw I find at the Re-store. I currently have four in various states of neglect. Vintage Sqw is another cool site.
Hand tools is another road to go down !
I can't help myself ........ For years I would go to a farm auction with a good friend of mine a couple times a month. Excuse to get together and go out after for a drink and bite. Lots of old hand tools and I have quite a collection of Ice cutting and fishing tools (good wall art)
While I have restored lots of saws and planes ... the new products from the speciality makers are really special. Good hand tools ... work. I plane and scrape vs sand. I touch up trim joints on my sliding plane ... Once you get good with them it's so quick. The problem is all the tools made during WWII got used to death and everything after is basically junk. Finding good usable vintage is not easy as many out there are of questionable quality.
I wish someone would remake the old style miter box ..... but, since it has not been done. My guess is how many would be sold and what woudl it have to cost?
