Should I insulate vented overhang?

Hi Gang!

In my garage makeover, I will be drywalling my celing and having some blown insullation in the attic. Would I put rolled fiberglass insulation in the overhang to keep the blown insullation from filling the vent area or how do I handle that area of my garage?

Thanks!

Check with your local lumberyard, I put in Proper Vents made for blown in insulation, hard to explain but they have tabs that staple to the top plate of the wall to seal off the eaves thus stopping the blown in from getting out there. Very user friendly and cheap.

keep the soffit vents open. Its important that the attic has ventilation.

Every home warehouse sells them. They're a foam material with ridges to give them a little structure. I have seen them as cheap as a $1 at menards on sale up to about $2.50 at home depot. They also sell plastic versions which cost a little more.

Hang them before the drywall or vapor barrier.I stapled them to the top chord of the trusses and then I cut the ends of mine and stapled them to the top plate. That way the insulation wont sneak under them.

I looked up Proper Vents and remember seeing them when my house was built. Thanks for the great advice.
