a buddy of mine has a 1/2" proto black ratchet he wants $30 for. it looks to be brand new and he says he's only used it a couple times.

Graniger has it for $54 so its not that much off, unless you need it and want it now. Some can be had new on ebay for $20 shipped. Here is a set of three for $47.95 shipped link

Are you looking for A 1/2"drive ratchet or are you wanting THAT model 1/2"drive ratchet? If you want just a 1/2"drive ratchet, there's better choices out there.

I'm browsing eBay all the time, I'm sure I can come up with a better ratchet than that Proto. I'll keep an eye out.

Am I missing something or is that the exact same ratchet for the exact same price? Why not buy his buddies that he can examine in person before purchase?

I have the regular and long handled big dawgs in 3/8" and really like them. I've been trying to find a chrome long handled 1/2" on ebay for cheap but they are pretty rare. The black finish is a lot more common. They may have been cheaper than $30 shipped in the past, but that seems to be about the current price on ebay right now.

There may be better ratchets out there but good luck finding one at that price I looked for a few months on ebay before I bought the Proto Long handle black oxide ratchet. I like the one I got, couldn't beat it for the price.
