So I have a red snap on classic 96 toolbox I really want a neon green box. Should I paint this box or should I sell it and buy a neon green one.

I would first look for a green version in good used condition. Give a little time to find one and just see what happens.

If you can't find a deal then you could ask to see what the difference would be to trade it in and then you can compair that cost to the cost and effort to paint yours or wrap yours.

IMO...unless you are going to paint it apart and with an automotive grade paint then it will not hold up like what you have now.

Also look at the cost of wrapping it as a comparison

Wrap it for $200, then when the green fad wears off in a couple years ... no harm done

Unless you've got a hookup where a pro can paint it on the side for a really good price, I'd sell it and buy the color you want.

If you paint the box there will still be a lot of hidden areas that are inaccessible to paint. It will never be truely extreme green.

Everybody knows that green boxes are way cooler. If you wanna be one of the cool kids definitely get rid of grandad's tired old red box.:bounce:

Trading it in would give you the option to trade it for maybe a bigger box cause you can never have too much toolbox!

Don't get a new one or paint this one until you look at wallpapering the old one first. Start a trend. (I'll see myself out now...)

Changing the color of a toolbox is a highway to lost value and crappy looks. Find your new green box somewhere -be it the truck or craigslist and buy it. Trade the old one or sell it or whatever. Upgrade to at least a KRL while you're at it.

I would say depends on condition of toolbox to start with.
If finish is very tidy and straight it best left original and sold .
If is tatty and resale going be low because of it then refinishing color good way go, got be done well though with quality paint (I had best durable finishes with 2pack solid colors). Color change is quite a job on all the drawers if done well, cabinet case itself not hard .

I'm Thinking a nice pastel floral would set it off nicely. :hellobye::badteeth:

Just something I did for a conversation piece. It was in bad condition, wouldn't roll and most of the drawers were stuck. So I put an old lawn wagon with some 10" tiller tires under it and gave it a paint job. Whole thing turned out awesome, few guys kept bugging me until I sold it to one of them.
