Guys, I;m finishing the interior of my pole barn and I have one wall sheathed with some thin wood paneling. It is bare wood. I have studded between the posts with 2x4 walls, mostly, and had planned to paint it all. Except the roof girts, and joists (which are metal that run between the posts. I had planned to paint the walls before installing my cabinets, but now I'm starting to think about leaving it natural. Should I? I just hate to paint the treated posts and have them peel or whatever, or have painted wood in some places and not all places. Am I just getting lazy and wanting the project done?

Thanks!

My shop has 8 feet of painted osb and above that, 8 feet of white metal.

The light colors really help brighten things up.

I world recommend painting your walls.

Maybe a sprayer would make it less drudgery

I'd let the treated posts dry out before you paint them. Myself, I'd probably coat them with an oil based paint when I did paint them rather a latex paint.

Like Finn said, the lighter colors will brighten it up quite a bit.

As well as being brighter, painting the wood will seal it preventing staining. Raw wood looks good initially, but once it picks up a bunch of stains it's starts to look ghetto.

And holds odours. My shop, not a pole barn, has plywood walls. Holds odours like crazy and will be sealed this summer. Maybe ....

How about posting up a photo... I'm a fan of natural wood in a shop as long as everything matches.

I would but the garage is such a wreck you wouldn't be able to see the walls. :)

I need to take some pics of the progress though. It's something that I fail to do on most of my projects! :willy_nil

Like said before... It gives the shop a "finished" look and is better for the light reflection.
