Should I pull the trigger (pun intended) on this DeWALT drill?

Lowes has it on sale thru tomorrow (9-5-11) for $90. Can't find a better price on Amazon or anywhere else.

Or, is there a better ~$100 drill on the market?

I'd wait for the xrp model, it has the hammer which is great for the plastic anchors in masonry, and the xrp batteries are lightyears better.

I got the 18v xrp drill and sawzall combo for $199 at home depot about 2 yrs ago, that was a sale price obviously. Just for occasional home use you'll probably never know the difference, but if its something you'll be using more than once in a while I'd go for the xrp.

I would say it's a pretty good deal. If I was in the market for a drill, I would certainly consider it. Been a long while since I was in the market for a drill.

I thought I had heard rumors a few years back that DeWalt was not as good quality as they used to be? Not sure. I know I went into HD the other day and saw they now have DeWalt everything from hammers to tape measures. Kinda had me worried about them really starting to pimp the name out even more.

I have had that drill for @ 4 years and it's great. Great battery life and good power. I was just drilling some 1/2" holes in some 3/8" steel plate yesterday with it.

I got mine in the kit - drill, circular saw, flashlight, two batteries, charger for $199.00 on sale. $90 for just the drill+batt+charger sounds like a decent deal.

How do you get an additional 10% off??? If you have been in the military and have some proof such as an American legion, VFW or VA card, or show a copy of your DD214. On the major holidays lowes HD and other give the discount, If you are a disabled Vet. you get it year round. As to the drill, you might regret not having the hammer, but if you went to buy two batteries it would almost cost you that much

I bought that same same last time it was on sale at Lowes. think I gave like 70 bucks for mine. i use it everyday. From drilling holes in wood, 1/4in steel, using hole saws in it and for removing bolts or installing them. never had one problem out of it.

I would never buy a cordless tool that is not Lit Ion battery powered. Faster recharge and holds power longer.

I love Dewalt, but you'll definitely want to upgrade to XRP batteries. They usually pack the regular batteries in a kit to get a lower price point.

I've got one and it's one of the best drills I've owned. Granted, I haven't tried some of the new Li stuff but this one works great.

I have always used Panasonic, however I just purchased a 12volt Dewalt. I have been in construction for years and have seen Dewalt stuff beat down HARD and still keep going. If you need a drill go for it and pull the trigger:thumbup:

I have that drill along with the xpr. While the xpr is a better drill that is a bargain. I would go for it.

It depends on how much you will use it. With NiCad batteries, you need to use them all the time. Run them dead and then recharge them right away. With me, I might go 6mo to a yr and not use the drill. When I get it out, the batteries are dead and won't hold a charge. So, I went with LithIon in my Hitachi drill. They hold their charge, don't develop a memory, and recharge in about 1/2 hr. So, like I said, it all depends.
