I've got a 3 CFM single stage FJC vacuum pump. I picked it up a few years ago, but never used it. Today, I went to use it to prep a recovery tank, so I needed it...

I hooked up my new CPS vacuum gauge, added oil to the pump and let it do it's thing... Got down to 680 microns and it wouldn't drop any further... I need it to go below 500 microns..

So what could be the problem? Should I try nylog on my connections? Could it be that the oil I put in it ... sealed, but a few years old be the problem, or might I need a new vacuum pump?

I guess I could try different hoses, but I would think if it was a hose, it wouldn't have gotten to 680 microns...

does it hold at 680 microns or does it rise. probably a leaky hose. pressurize and soap your connections....are you sure your micron gauge is working correctly...

How low will it go with the gauge just on the pump?
Might need a few oil changes to clean the pump out. Get the oil nice and hot before draining.

Thanks guys! I've got a leaky hose some where.. I grabbed some other hoses I had and by passed my gauge set.. Went down to 240 microns, so I'm good.

Thanks again!
