Should I sell my Mac box?

I have an 80's vintage Mac box I'm using in school right now. I got it for a very good deal about ten years ago. I love it except for one thing: The stupid integral drawer dividers. I've spent a lot of time organizing over the last year and it works, but it's awkward. So from time to time I contemplate selling. If I could sell for $325 I'd turn around and buy the harbor freight box that matches my side box and top box. The new box would give me better layout and more room as I move into the auto industry. However, selling my old box would be like losing an old friend! Please help!

I have an old snapon box, it has integral dividers as well, except where the spot welds were drilled out.

I'd keep it if I had the space. Even if it doesn't get used for tools having parts and hardware organized could be helpful. Probably make a good spot for backups too.

I'm a big believer in not holding onto things that have no or little use to me because of an attachment. If you truly feel that the HF box will fit your every need then sell the box and buy the new one. Otherwise, hold onto the MAC and save some dough for a cart or another box. To me the major draw back to the HF 44" boxes are the depth.

That's a good point on the depth. I should calculate surface area and verify that I'd actually be getting more space.

i'd keep it, and put it to use in the garage.....

I used a matco mb920 (same exact box) and when I got it several dividers had been removed. I realize I that they are are there to strengthen me he drawers. After several years of use, I have seen no ill effects. My son uses it now, but it's shadowed and the drawers are loaded light. My long winded way of saying, "remove the offending Dividers

I have that exact bottom box. Bought it 30+ years ago and it's a keeper.
I never had an issue with the dividers. I actually like them.
I just kept buying more boxes as I got more tools.

Going from Mac to Harbor Freight seems like a big step down to me, just saying

Not sure how your dividers are attached, but on my Mac box I just pried them up a bit and wiggled them back and forth until the spot welds popped. Amazing how much storage space that little divider robs you of.

The HF44" is by far a more practical box for a modern auto mechanic. I've owned both.

People are so cheap that you won't receive what it's worth. Its value is in its usefulness in your home garage. I'd keep it if you have a garage at your house.

Something is only "worth" what someone is willing to pay.
