Not sure if this should go here or in general forum. So sorry if it is in the wrong place.

I am looking at getting the Ridgid r4512 table saw from Home Depot. Is anyone aware if this saw ever goes on sale, or should I just buy it at retail?

Thanks.

Probably not helpful but I would be looking at a used cast iron top saw online. Those craftsmans go anywhere 50-200 with most around 100 for good machines.

I can't comment about sales, but check other regions' prices. I switched my store from the next town over in GA to one in SC and was able to order it on-line with free delivery for $100 less.

You can buy a used Unisaw for that money instead of that Chinese Ridgid.

Keep an eye on Craigslist, you'll have one within a month.

IME, no.
If you time it right, you might get one marked down when they stop selling them and clearance the remaining inventory, but who knows when that is. It could be next week or next decade.

So I have been watching out for Unisaws in my area, and currently the cheapest functional one is 900. People in my area think of Craftsman saws are worth their weight in gold the only ones under $200 look like they've spent the last decade behind a barn. Other options currently online in my area include a number of saws from the 50s and older or ones that require a significant amount of work to make them useful. I know the shortcomings of the Ridgid saw and accept that for the price point it comes in at and the scope of my use of it.

Thanks but I'm not looking at portable ones. I will probably just wait until after Black Friday see if it goes on sale if it does great if it doesn't oh well. Thanks everyone

If you're in a region that has Menards you may be able to wait until Menards has an 11% sale (supposedly starting on 11/11) and Home Depot has a 11% price match website that you can submit for online. Check the website below for the list of stores eligible.

Check again later this weekend. They have weekend sales all the time with 20%. Then Thursdays during the week of Black Friday, will have the sales extended into the weekend. Can't go wrong with refurbs especially those directly from the manufacturer.

here you go if you can live with refurb. It was 20% off this price two days ago. It'll go back on sale during Black friday.

Alternatively you can obtain a Lowes 10% coupon online and bring it to HD, most will honor the competitor coupon.

In terms of the refurbs, be careful. Apparently there are trunion issues, so it may take a few tries to get one you’re happy with. You want any easy path to exchange or refund if it’s necessary.

Yes, I am aware of the trunion issue. That and the two piece rail are the two main negatives. But from what i read they are good with returns. Thats why I am staying away from referbs this time. Will the 11 percent work even though menards doesn't sell the same product?

If your home depot participates in the program (it's restricted to stores near enough a mendards), it's 11% rebate. There are some exclusions, but "menards has to sell it" isn't one.

You also submit it online, and they're faster shipping the rebate gift card than menards is.

these pop up somewhat regularly on the used market. I picked up a Bosch portable this way. It's a good saw also.

That's actually a pretty decent saw for the money when compared to other new saws.

Used prices are very regional so can be super cheap or super high. Around here people want new price for used Craftsman low end tools but the higher end stuff is cheap.

I think the trunion issue was the previous model but not sure. Perhaps a running change without a model change. Just run the blade up when looking at the blade along the top and watch to see if the blade stays at 90 degrees as it goes up and down. If the blade changes angle, then its worthless. Check this carefully as it makes the saw worthless.

$1000 delivered or $885 picked up will get you a Grizzly G0771Z if that is in your budget.

Jobsite saws are mostly a big step down but I'm pretty happy with my Dewalt DWE7191RS when I don't have time to go use a real table saw.

Forget anything that does not have at least a 10" blade. Some job site saws will not take dado blades which may or may not be important to the OP.

CONCUR !

The best Craftsman are from the 70s-90s and have the motor mounted out front and drive the saw blade via a belt.

Don't let rust on the table top turn you off. Steel wool and a bit of WD40 will make it usable. Not perfect, but usable.

Check these extensions and fence !

If you find a used Unisaw or other cabinet saw in good shape it's not a bad way to go. I waited for over a year and nothing good came up within driving distance so I went ahead and bought the Delta 36-725 from Lowes for $599 minus a 10% coupon. In my opinion, it's a better saw. I've used the Ridgid R4512 in the shop at a previous job, and it's not a bad saw. But the Biesemeyer style fence on the Delta is worth the extra cost for me.

I also went with the Delta when Lowe's had a 10% off sale and stacked a 10% off coupon on it.

I thought Home Depot ended that in 2016

It might’ve store dependent then. I have brought my $10 off $50 Lowes coupon and had it honored without issue, but they want the physical coupon not and online coupon on my phone. I use these regularly. I don’t remember the last time I bought a big ticket item in HD using the Lowes 10%, it may have been a few years back.
