i broke a 48oz dead blow hammer that was orange but he gave me a red one because thats all they make now. i said i saw green ones (i really wanted a green one) before and i would like a green one. he said he can't do that.

why?

i had a 5" blue point channel lock type pliers that the pin sheered off somehow and he gave me a similar one by snap on. he refused to do it every time i asked and finally he did it.

why?

He just had a red one in stock I'm sure, when you warranty something with a snap on distributor everything is up to their discretion.

If you think your getting the run-around on a warranty, find another dealer to spend your money with. If your not spending any money with the dealer your probably going to get the run-around.

Some Snap-on guys are just plain dicks, that's the way it goes.

The green hammers were some that were made up for some special promo sets. They are not available for order anymore.

The blue point pliers, if they are the ones I am thinking of have been discontinued, that is why he gave you a comparable item that was Snap-on branded.

I bought a set of each this week in both colors Orange and green. the 16oz and 32oz combo. They just came out of the tote this week so they must still make them.

That 16 and 32oz combo set is the promo set that I was talking about. I cant order them nor can I order individual hammers in colors other than red.

About 2 years ago I was using a Snap-On orange dead blow plastic hammer to drift a nylon bushing into a John Deere 111 mowing deck pivot (direct hammer to bushing). It shattered into a bunch of pieces. I called Snap-On as I have no truck in my area anymore. I was told to ship it to their nearest distributer so they could analyse the hammer for its warranty. I just threw it in the waste basket. I had called them 3 times just to get their take on my problem, so much for an easy warranty. I do have a good number of their tools, what will I do in the future? Craftsman is easy and no questions asked.........:mad::beer:love this site:bowdown: and I appreciate all your comments:thumbup:

Like with any warranty, it is not a guarantee you will get the same product in return, just that you will get a replacement for that product. They can give you an item of equal, greater, and even lesser value if they so choose. No law says they must give you what you bought, let alone that they must even warranty it. Warranties are the sole discretion of the company, can change without notice, and are not even a legal contract that must be honored.

That being said, I would be pissed if I got anything lesser, and would try my best to get the exact replacement.

crappy warranty service is one main reason(other than quality) I always avoided craftsman ,

indeed :)

I've yet to have a problem warranting something from snap on and currently have 3 accounts...

Now craftsman is very good with warranty till you get a noob who doesn't want to warranty something just cause

Sending things in is always a option; I have a couple of things my dealer won't warranty at the moment....

i am sick and tired of getting BS from them when stuff like this happens. i originally bought a orange one because i liked the orange. now i have an oddball red one in the set that doesn't match.

at least i did well on the pliers, those blue points were junk to begin with. (garage sale $2)

chadster, can you explain the whole promotional items idea? my dealer won't give me anything sometimes and other times he give me stuff like its christmas. either a shirt, hat, stickers, calender, pens........

is there certain things they can give away for free or at little cost? he refuses to special order me a 24" window sticker decal for some reason too. i ask him almost every time i see him

look up rob dobesh. dealer in hennepin county minnesota

All of the promo stuff the dealers have to purchase. Snap-on gives the dealers absolutely NOTHING! Every single item that a dealer gives away comes out of his pocket.

The dealer is not the one who makes the decision on what colors are available to order. It's a hammer, not a decorative item.

Order the sticker online. The part number for a white one is 8-7562

I agree with you 100%, but SO certainly does not always make it seem this way. Let's just look at their hard handled drivers that so many people go koo-koo for. So far, I have seen:

Orange
Red
Green
Yellow
Black
Pink???

And people get very attached to the colors. There is someone on here who is all about the SO green.

SO really seems to feed into the whole color-preference deal.

There's a first. Most of the time every one in the US can get everything we cant here. Also I will get the number for them as you can order in what ever color you want here.

I guess I could get the colors for some members...for only like 200% mark up? Still seems cheaper then EBAY :lol_hitti

The promo pack number is HBBD1632G for green, HBBD1632O for orange. The individual hammers are not set up in the system to order in any colors other than red. To my knowledge, Snap-on Canada has a seperate distribution network than Snap-on in the USA.

I was on a truck a few days ago (not my regular driver's route) and there was green, orange and red in dead blow and urethane ball peens.

Re: discussion above. I've heard from an SO driver that the way SO distributes has changed. Significant cuts in warehousing and a few other distribution methods have made it more difficult for drivers/dealers. I didn't get into specifics and can't now recall all the exact details.
