So, I'm Brad. I'm unemployed. I live in Riverside, CA. Just graduated from college and I'm infinitely unemployable. And I drive a used 2002 Chevy Prism. =P

Yeah...totally awesome. It's champagne colored.

I'm far away from my family and friends, and some of my happiest memories growing up were watching my dad working on cars in the driveway. He worked for Hughes Aircraft, so we always had GM cars. Mostly Caprice / Malibu, for the curious. He used to have a corvette, but then I was born ;)

Anyways, I sorta stumbled my way over here. I've got a lot of free time, got tired of lurking...signed up...here now. Hi! :)

Welcome aboard. I think half of us here are unemployed these days.

So where is "home"?

Well, I grew up in the San Fernando valley which is a ways north of here, but parentals decided to move to Washington state last year. =P

So, that's a lot more north of here. I like California, so I want to try and make it work here.

Thanks. Well, it seems like I'm infinitely unemployable at least. A lot of education (Business econ + English major) with very little work experience--even less in any field I'm interested in.

Potential employers seem to feel like I come with a high price tag. The thing is...I don't! I'm not so silly do think my earning potential less than a year out of college is over 30k. They look almost apologetic when they tell me how much the job pays..and then try to dissuade me because the pay is too low. It's a weird world out there right now.

Hang in there buddy.

I got a Son who graduated last summer from the UofM with the reversal of your Bachelor's degree - English major, Finance minor.

He'll brew ya a mean cup of joe down at Starbuck's.

Hey mechamunch, hey Tarheelgarage -

I started a social group for guys like us. Go up to the "Community" drop down. Hit the "social group" tag. Hunt down the Soup Kitchen icon and come on in and have a laugh (or cry) with me......

Hey I know lots of guys that starting out pushing a broom that are now in 6 figure a year jobs. Got to start from the bottom you know.

I don't make awesome $, but it's not bad. When I first started out I was getting paychecks of $300-400 every 2 weeks. :shocking:

Yeah...I don't know about pushing around a broom. I already did that type of work through high school / early college. I'm more poised to do work most people would bay big $$ for little $.
