Show me your mix-matched toolbox and top chests

OK here's what's currently in my garage, an 1982 vintage 26" stack on the left, a Craftsman Professional side box in the middle, and a 2022 Vintage 52" on the right.

I have a 90's vintage 26" stack that I've been thinking about swapping in place of the side box, or just getting rid of both 26" stacks and the side box and sliding in a 41" or another 52".

Thoughts?

Mine are half mis-matched with Beach made Craftsman on top of normal style Beach bottom.

What are the 'middle' toolboxes referred to as, and foes anyone in the US still make them? I have two Craftsman stacks and could use a few more drawers to spread things out, and getting two middle boxes to add to these stacks would be perfect.

Once upon a time, Sears called them “add-on” boxes. A few years ago I picked up a couple of “Performax” branded boxes @ Menards. This is their budget line. Perfectly
suitable for drill bits / zip ties / small tools. Pretty certain they were made in asia as they were ~ $70 a few years ago. No pix at the moment.

Westward referred to them as middle cabinets (made by Waterloo), currently called “intermediate “cabinets. Stanley makes a 2-drawer middle (made in USA) 26” wide, sold by acme tools. Farm and fleet carries a craftsman 3-drawer, US made that they call an “intermediate” tool chest.

Replaced with an icon box a couple years ago, full of car parts now a days.

Did Craftsman actually make one for the 41 and 52 stacks?

I have one for my 26, and have located a few other 26".

I would *LOVE* to find an intermediate for my Craftsman 52". Don't care what brand, as long as i make it fit.

Buy 2 26” cabinets and put ‘em together!

Well duh! Never thought of that.

Just went out to the garage with a tape measure, two of them will hang over on the sides slightly, but I can make that work.

The woodworking side toolbox. I was going to paint the HF side cabinet to match the automotive box but I went another direction. It's an ugly conglomeration but I bought all of it for under $450.

And....I made it work.

My 2023 vintage 52" stack:


And I added two late 80s early 90s 26" 18" deep intermediate boxes.

Just a little cutting, a little reshaping and they fit like a glove!

How about this menagerie? Two Beach bottom boxes( one I’ve had since I was about 14) bolted together , Snap On side cab , large Canadian Tire 52” top box on the left, with a Mastercraft mix section topped by my original Beach top box. Screwed it all together to help friend open up their New Holland dealership because I was only there for one season during haying season until they hired some techs, so after 5 years being there full time, I took my box home and worked there another 3 as the parts manager.. it’s all back in my shop where it belongs again to go nowhere ever again..
