Being among the "Senior Citizen Members" of this board...:(

I am a semi-intelligent, but exceptionally lazy, "Old Fart"...:lol_hitti

And "Retired Poor"...

Ergo, I use the plastic cases GearWrench sent my socket sets in --- ...

Which has the advantage of allowing me to carry all the sockets to the work...My old eyes have been out of calibration since the '90's, so I can't tell the difference between a 8mm and a 9mm fastener, so, at least with all of them present, I save time, and wear and tear, on my knees and hips...

The real answer you're seeking is...:bounce:

"Whatever works for you..."

Really wanting to try some. I need to get off my lazy backside and order some.

You won't be disappointed, the only people that I would not recommend them to are machinists, the magnets would collect **** all the time. I actually need to buy some Ernst rails for use around my metal shop, for now I just pull a few sockets off the rails if I head into that area.

I use a lot of made in USA plastic socket rails like these for Armstrong and Craftsman sockets. Some of my other sets are in cases. It kind of depends on where they are stored and what I am doing with them.

I use these. I've had them forever and fit in a thin drawer. a5681692c358064989c1367578aafc8f.jpg

These are what I started with 25 years ago. They take up more space but like you say, fit in shallow drawers. They are quite convenient under a vehicle and they stick well to fender wells.

Ashamed to show mine as they all look well worn.
Why?
I think that more than a few people haven't even used most of these sockets in these sets unless they primped and polished their drawer for hours, or they are all "before" pictures.

Like the people who buy expensive covers for the truck beds-
"so they don't get dirty" Less show more go!!

How real mechanics tool boxes are organized.

Make it instead of buying it!!!

Stop sign = free thanks to mother nature
drill holes
99cent HF rails
pop rivets

SAE sets

Metric sets

Go to cart
Used plywood and screws instead of stop sign/rivets
