I was putting a pair away today and started to think that I have a problem (probably caused by GJ) with too many pairs of tweezers. I mean really, how many do I need? Then I thought maybe if I asked y'all to see what you got, there's be some sick ******* who really puts me to shame. You are a compulsive bunch, so I can't be alone. Go ahead, I'll feel better. :eyecrazy:

What do you use them for? I've only ever run into a couple instances that I could've remotely used tweezers (and the majority involve slivers of some sort) but I've always been fine with a good pair of needle nose pliers...

So...they just are there for show? I have a lot of tools I don't use often, but everything has a purpose. I simply haven't seen a need for tweezers.

So serious lol. What purpose does it serve crapping on the guy's thread?

The locking type make great heat sinks when soldering sensitive components onto a circuit board BTW. The open ones function the same as needle nose pliers but with better reach and finer points. I just hate it when I have to use needle nose pliers to remove a splinter but sometimes its necessary :)

That's what I wanted to know. I was simply wondering if I was missing something useful from my toolbox. Judging by the responses that I had received, I saw no use for them, but now that you actually answered my question, I may end up getting a set.

I work as a machine maintenance tech in the explosives and munitions industry. My tweezer is an essential tool for picking up small parts safely. Here is my Excelta 169C-RT. This tweezer gets used a lot on a daily basis.

You have a pretty nice "get started" collection.

Here's mine after I thinned down my collection:

I have a pair of tweezers from a jewelry supply store. I don't use them as a tool but for pulling splinters. They're intended for picking up small beads. Their tips touch perfectly, and they're sharp enough to draw blood.

I needed some long tweezers awhile back so I picked up a set of SS at HF. For about $6, it was a steal. Add some hemostats (they call them clamps) and you are ready to be a surgeon "want-to-be" !

Wow!!!!!! I would have never thought that anyone would have a drawer stuffed with tweezers!!!! Nice collection. But I gotta know, what got you started collecting tweezers? Do you use them for something? Every time you see them you buy them? How does one go about filling a drawer full of tweezers? I'm fascinated......

I had about a half dozen of various sizes and then found a guy selling a huge bag of about 200 of them at a G-sale for around $10. (all Swiss). I kept the best ones and sold the rest. (I think they were rejects from a medical facility or electronics factory)

Tweezers are one of those tools you don't use too often but when you do, they're invaluable.
