show off your catch cans, intakes, exhausts, charge piping, or anything else related. Built an intercooler? show it off  I've been thinking of building some of these items once I get a welder of my own and I'd like to know what kind off tools you used for them, and how difficult they are to make. Show off your machinery too! pipe benders, metal brake, etc..

a few pics of a 3" exhaust i built for a built turbo'd bmw m3 sedan. Used galvanized tubing and was later fully ceramic coated. also did all the intercooler piping and charge pipe but owner didn't want any pics taking of his engine bay. car was a sleeper. Exhaust welded with miller 252 mig and intercooler and charge pipe done with miller goldstar 330 tig.

I never claimed to be a welder. This in the bottom side of a the shock tower, welding upside down in the wheel well.

Added metal to inside of shock tower, welded to pice in the first picture. Swapped over to a coil over set up in the front and wanted something more than just sheetmetal holding the front suspension.

What is involved in making something like this? and can it be done with a MIG welder? rather than TIG which it seems like most people use.. when a flange for your engine isn't available, how much is it for a machine shop to make one?

Again, can this be done with a tig welder and a spool gun?

I believe you meant MIG with a spool gun. TIG doesn't use wire as a filler, it uses filler rods kinda similar to stick welding with the difference that the rod doesn't produce the arc.

Yes you can use MIG with a spool gun. A spool gun really is the only way to MIG with aluminum.
