Ordered the 21, 22 and 23 6pt combination wrenches individually this am. The 20 is out of stock hopefully they're still making them. The 21-23 were under $10 each so needed to add something to get order to $35 for free shipping. I ordered a Carlyle 9/11mm flare wrench. Guess ill have to fill out the flare wrench set next lol...

Wasn't sure how much longer it would be on sale (showed up as $79.94 for me pre-tax, pn CHT R12LFL120 for future reference) so I decided to give it a try. Should be getting it soon so I can put up some pictures. I also don't have any other 1/2" Carlyle ratchet to compare to but can compare with others.
I have one of hte old 90 tooth 1/2 dr. locking flex. If you post your measurements, I'll try to match them for comparison purposes.

Got the new 25" locking flex ratchet, pn R12LFL120, yesterday, but only had a few minutes to play around with it.

As far as head dimensions, I took 2 quick measurements:
- Head width = 1-1/2"
- Head thickness = 3/4"

For reference, the Powerbuilt Pro Tech 1/2" 72T flex head, pn 649956 (which I've read here is the same as the older Carlyle), is listed online as 1-1/4" wide.
The new Gearwrench 120XP locking flex head, pn 81376, is listed online as 1.449" wide, 0.685" thick.
Snap-On's equivalent dual 80, pn SHLX80A, is listed as 1-5/8" wide, 3/4" thick.

I've only ever used non-locking flex heads, but the flex in unlocked position on this ratchet was pretty wobbly out of the box, so I'll see if tightening the pin gets it closer to what I'm used to. With the flex head locked, there's still play but that seems typical of locking flexes. I was also expecting the backdrag to be quite high, similar to what others have stated about dual pawl fine-tooth ratchets (e.g. 120XP), so I was surprised that it was reasonably low. Nothing quantitative, but this is comparing against 1/2" drive coarse-tooth ratchets I have - a RP USA Craftsman with high backdrag and a very low backdrag 30-tooth Ko-ken.

I'll have to do a follow-up post once I've had a bit more time with it and include some pictures.

EDIT: add part numbers

I recently came across some uses for long reach torx sockets, and discoverd the carlyle sale in october was pretty decent for these type of sockets. I got the torx set for about $30 and the SAE and Metric hex sets about $15 each. Significantly cheaper than even the HF ICON sets. I also really like the 3/8 flex ratchet, and being on sale for $33 I picked up a second one of those also. Very comparable to my Snap-On FLF80 ratchet at less than 1/5 the cost.

Took a closer look and because the locking mechanism is a sliding pin through the joint, there’s no way to tighten it. The only thing keeping the head from flopping around is the sprung ball in the detents, which I think could have used a stronger spring.

Here’s a shot showing head width:

Well, I needed a new battery charger and NAPA had one on sale that fit my needs. And somehow a few additional items came home with me. Yes, I'm pretty well set for scrapers now. :)

I didn't have a stubby ratchet, and this one was only $18. Made in Taiwan. Seems like a very nice little ratchet! Backdrag is light, not quite Koken-light, but quite nice. And the direction lever is smooth and consistent right out of the gate. I'm quite impressed, considering the price.

Pardon the messy workbench. Picked up a few new items for Christmas: 1/2 impact extensions, 3/8 deep impact swivels in SAE, small carbide scraper, and the 1/2” extra long locking flex ratchet.

I mentioned a couple pages back that I had the 1/2” extra long Kobalt flex so I took some comparison pictures. The Kobalt is a decent unit, but it flexes quite a bit when you’re putting 150lbs. + on it. Decided the Carlyle was worth the investment. The Kobalt is going under the seat of my truck to serve as a lug wrench.

The Kobalt isn’t a bad value at $75, but I’m not sure I’d put 300 lbs. of weight on it.

I was in my local Napa Wednesday. If you didn’t order it, they didn’t have it, as far as Carlyle tools go. They had all the Milwaukee you’d ever want though.

Mine is the same way; but they can get pretty much anything the next day since there is a huge NAPA warehouse 20 miles away.

To be fair, Carlyle is generally very expensive in comparison to other import options. Yet, people here think that Napa somehow could've sold thousands of Malco vise grips if they were just hanging on the pegs.

Are we talking franchise or corporate-owned stores? Every corporate store I've been in stocks a ton of Carlyle. Franchise stores are hit or miss.

No surprise on the Milwaukee. NAPA is trying to make a big push there and looks to be mostly dropping Craftsman in the process.

Yeah, franchise stores here, too. I think I already posted this further up, but one of the guys behind the counter said they are moving to Milwaukee because corporate won't support the warranty on Carlyle. The franchise ends up eating the cost of the warranty, apparently it's not that way with MIlwaukee, maybe it's a manufacturer's warranty difference. Who knows.

hey, looking to get myself a 3/8 and 1/4 Carlyle ratchet, should I get them off the site or in store? cost wise.
Easy to price them each way. Check the price online, then call your local store with the part number for what you want. A lot of times, they can sell to you through a commercial account that does a large volume. I've saved money on parts that way, but didn't really help with Carlyle stuff.

It’s the 4750N. 30 teeth or so. I really like it, big fan of the knurled handle. I cut my teeth using the 36-tooth craftsman raised panel ratchet so I’m used to coarse tooth ratchets, but the difference in back drag makes the craftsman feel archaic.

That's a good deal. The anti-slip wrenches are pretty nice. I FINALLY got the ones that I caught on the eBay deal to fit into my cart. Have been waiting on the Ernst Wrench Pros to come out in Blue. Excuse the mess, I am still not done organizing. The larger sizes will likely make it into my ancillary box so I can free up some room.

Where'd you get those midget wrench clamshell organizers?

I've never seen punches like those. Seems handy, but those look to be big, honkin' punches.

I think Lang is the OEM. If I could've bought the punches separately, I would have just gotten the biggest one. Anyways, I regularly have to to blow apart shock linkages on dirt bikes and ATVs that have seized due to lack of grease and regular submersion in water/mud. Regular punches aren't great due to the short length, so I have been using HF demolition screwdrivers or an old Craftsman bit driver handle. These will make that job a lot easier.

Nothing too new to report. Mostly because there’s not much left to buy.

I did score these gloves for $12 and the light (CL800) for $30, both from eBay. No way I’d pay full price for the light, but for $30 it’s worth it.

I’ve bid on a few R14LFQRs but everyone I bid on, the sale price is over $50. The ones I don’t stay close to opening bid of $35.
