WOW MERK advertising Gearwrench Wrenches!!!:wtf:

Did you get more free samples?
All that talk about snap on beam thickness, why didn't you use Cornwell as an example? You're slipping.
Don't cloud the thread with Gearwrench propaganda.
Let the people buy and try what they want....

Those haven't been swapped over yet. It'll be the Napa Service Tools units. For $20, they aren't bad, i have a set. I think they were cheaper through Cripe, though.

Well, the napa set came in not the carlyle brand. The napa set looks good though. For 20 dollars I'm good with it

The duckbill pliers were the carlyle brand

Yep they're entirely decent, especially for $20. :) The only thing i don't like about them is the grips, which honestly is my only complaint with the Carlyle pliers as well.

Which is why this happened. ;)

Had to warranty a 3/8 Napa Roto Ratchet and since they could not locate a replacement they had to give me a brand new Carlyle Roto Ratchet. 100 teeth and a length of just under a foot make this thing pretty neat. The blue button also doubles as the quick release.

Stopped in the local napa after work to check out the carlyle tools and all I see is evercraft...... I asked the guy about them and he tool me to the back room and showed me what they had... which wasn't much at all. He said the rep has not come out yet to set up the display. The lighting was poor and I would be surprised if there was $100 worth back there..... I will have to check the other napa's

They are still rolling things out. The tools just came out July 1 2012.

One of my area stores was taking down the old NAPA Pro pegboards and the now extinct Napa Pro tools were 70% off. It was kinda like being ushered to the back of the store room to see the land of Misfit Toys. Akward.

I picked up a set of 15" and 18" long, 1/2" drive breaker bars.
List on the 15" was $70.
List on the 18" was $75.

Picked up each for around $18.
Polished chrome. Made in USA stamp. NAPA stamp. Lifetime warranty.
Yes. Made in USA.

Ya just gotta ask.
And BTW this store had many of the USA made NAPA pro ratchets, extensions and sockets for that 70-% off.

Don't hate. :)
But I know you're not.

All the new Carlyle tools go by CHT, BTW.
Pretty simple handoff.

Although I have not seen the new line in person, everything looks like a great value and the best line out there for any of the auto parts store tool line. Just noticed their Universal Chrome Swivel Sockets are assembled with torx fasteners vs. non-adjustable pins, great for the price!

i can tell you my first impressions of carlyle stuff, i had to replace a fly wheel that required special deep torx t60 socket, regular socket doesnt work, has to be modified, i called every one including my local truck tool guys, snappy etc, nobody could get me special or regular torx sockets, snappy guy could get regular only within a week for 44$ or special socket from bmw dealer within 3 days for 90$. and then i went to napa to get some parts and decided to ask, i had a socket in 2 hours for less then 9$, modified it and got the job done, really nice socket very heavy and very well made, for some reason it looks very similar to new taiwanese Mac line of products and have a feel its the same manufacturer just different stamp. i have regular short mac sockets made in taiwan so im gona take it to napa and compare it one to one short carlyle sockets, measure them and take some pictures.
another thing i notice they offer stubby metric wrenches all the way to 26mm for 15$ for 26 wrench, even snappy doesn't offer anything over 19 anymore

My local Napa just finally started getting Carlyle stuff. They had the tools in about a week now but didn't have the boards so they didn't have much on display.I did however walk out with a 3/8-1" set in the long pattern non slip wrench set. They have excellent chroming,a nice feel, and are about as long as the Craftsman Pro set I have.No complaints so far but I'm waiting on the metric set which will be used more than standard.Planning on getting a few open stock wrenches to finish the sets as well.

I bought that set when it first came out in July. Thus far they have performed just as well as my other brands.

Let us know how the metric set works out for you

Hi all, my name is Randy and I ran across this thread searching some stuff, so I'm new.
I am a manager at NAPA and we got our Carlyle tools all set up and to me they feel like much better quality than the old NAPA hand tools.
Carlyle Tools (Balkamp) had a contest enter a pic of your boards and win a all expenses paid weekend at the AAA Texas 500 in Dallas, lol, and I won one of 5 trips.
Here is our 18 board display, working on 12 more boards.
See you around this place.

My local NAPA has stocked Carlyle for a long time. My big question is; are they made in the USA? Some of the tools are not a bad deal, I may consider getting a ratchet to try it out.

The entire line is being manufactured in Taiwan as far as i know. There is also no way your napa stocked this line for "a long time" as it just got released this year.

Carlyle tools are quality made in Taiwan, as are a lot of snap on and matco, they have all gone GLOBAL.
The tools did not get released until July, 2012 and to have them in your store then would have been a miracle. We got ours the first part of September.

I wish the NAPA stores in Charlotte had a set up like that. I've been buying my Carlyle tools online because of the lackluster "in store" availability.

I have been to 3 Napa stores around me and none have them or have even heard of them. I would like to see some up close

Two of my local NAPA dealers said they would not be stocking the new Carlyle tools but would order for me.

Wow found a defect today in ratchets #R14R, R38R and R12R. :dunno:
None of the other ratchets have this issue at all.
I didn't look but I believe this is the least expensive Carlyle ratchet we sell.
link for pic. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx?R=CHQR12R_0151389659

Well I guess its only a defect if you use a CHEAP socket on it. lol
If you put a cheap socket on (with no cutouts for the ball) the ratchet will slip because the ball on the ratchet has no where to go (has a push button release) and the ratchet slips big time. Put a quality socket on it with cutouts for the ball and ratchet works fine.

I'd say stay away from this version of ratchets, (I'll not be stocking these any more) never know when you might grab a socket that will bust your knuckles bad !
Have the greatest days possible !

It is not a defect on the ratchet if the socket is defective. That is "nuance" with the ratchet in using a defective socket.

I'll throw this out there. I bough a Carlyle Flare Nut Wrench (10MM and 12MM), and absolutely love it. Took off all my brake lines at the body and the hard lines to my master cylinder on a car that has spent 10 years in all the salt present in Minnesota. Didn't round a single flare nut off.

Haven't had (used) too many flare nut wrenches in my life, but taking off some rusted 10MM flare nuts (total of 6 of them) with no damage to the nuts is awesome in my book.

Thank you for the feedback. I've been thinking about trying the Carlyle flare nut wrenches. Been looking at snap on too.

Does anyone know is that wrench organizer that is pictured in the Original post that goes from 6-24MM is for sale by itself??

If so would it hold a standard Snap On wrench of the same size
IE 6MM Carlyle slot and putting a 6MM Snap on wrench in.
