Most of all of the high tooth count ratcheting mechanisms are made in Taiwan, regardless of COO stamp. ***** but it's true.

Well if you say it's True.. Must be regardless of stamping and website, someone call Mac as they may have been discriminated against.

All the new Carlyle tools go by CHT, BTW.
Pretty simple handoff.

What the heck do you do with a half inch drive 15 inch long breaker bar? Or an 18 inch for that matter? I have a snap on 18 inch that came in a set and it's still new after 3 years of wrenching. Haven't found 1 thing in need to of breaker baring with 18 inches of fury. Don't they make BD half inch drive ratchets for a reason?

Guess you don't do much maintenance work on farm equipment. I just recently bought a 1" drive Wright breaker bar because my 3/4" drive Proto breaker bar looked as if it was going to bend into a pretzel on a recent job.

Maybe I should have bought a Carlyle bar to keep in the spirit of this thread!!

Heavy equipment repair is a whole other world. One that I'm anxious to experience... if a gun is at my head and there's no other way to keep breathing! :D
I have a 3/4 drive ratchet/socket set... I've never used them. I'd like to keep it that way! :)

I always use the smallest drive possible so by the time I get to 1/2" I need some leverage. Usually with 1/2 I'm using impact but I find plenty of uses for my 24" ratchet and 30" breaker.

For 3/4 I use impact or a 4' breaker.

**** matco ratchet. I'm thinking bout getting one. I have the mac version with the small head for clearance purposes. For 3/4 I have a cat head and snap on 40 inch bar. The cat head is made by snapon I just get a good discount through cat so that's why i didn't buy a snappy head too. And I have some cheapy 4 foot breaker bar for the cheater pipe assault.

Good to hear. Glad to know I didn't pee away the money I spent on them yesterday...

Had all of mine show up today. Didn't get a chance to unpack yet. I'll have more info tomorrow. I did fondle the deep well 1/4" metric sockets and was fairly impressed

Got mine unpacked today.

Hey, do those crowfoot wrenches have scallops cut out inside of the square drive end for detent balls or are they smooth on all four sides?

Are those 1/4 swivel sockets? If so, if you grab the socket part with one hand and grab the square drive base with your other hand, how much play is there when you move your hands in and out?

I'll have to look closer at crows foot.

The swivels are 3/8 and they are very tight. Fit /finish is very nice as well.

The crows feet do not have an indent for a detent ball. I checked my snap on ones and they do.

Finally got the drawer organized and added all the new stuff into it.

First Carlyle tool I've purchased. The finish is great and COO is Taiwan. It's a 3/8 drive teardrop, can't wait to try it out!
Only paid $15.99 w/ no discounts

Has any one tried the Carlyle bit sockets? Im looking to get the master hex kit mostly for warranty but just looking for opinions on them before I bite the bullet.

Anyone notice the chrome scuffs easily on the sockets and the detent isn't quite in the right spot for SO or Proto ratchets?

The Carlyle Crows Foot sockets do not have a scalloped indent for the ratchet ball, but they do have a hole opposite the "wrench" opening that accomplishes the same thing.

I know... I just bought 3 of them today.

The Carlyle 1/4" sockets I have work fine with My Wright and Blackhawk ratchets...

They work fine, just not seated as far down on the ratchet drive as other sockets do :dunno: It doesn't hurt anything, just something interesting I noticed.

Some of these tools look fantastic!! I wish napa canada would carry this line. We get "ultra Pro" and it's not the best.

Does NAPA ever run sales on the Catlyle stuff?

Yes, and its always discounted if you have a commercial account. Keep an eye on ebay too. Not much of it but when it sells it usually sells low since its a brand under the radar of most.

Thought this might add to the thread. He even mentions something called a Dual 80 - whatever the heck that is, never heard of it and I am 10000000% positive it's never been mentioned on the board and will not cause a flock of loyalists to trample this thread if they catch even the slightest scent of this mention. (there's a little sarcasm in there somewhere for the 99% of GJ users who are unable to detect it)
