So has anyone put the long pattern non-slip wrenches to use yet? Thinking of investing in some and just wanted to see the general consensus.

FWIW, I'm trying to decide between wright grips, Williams Supercombos, and the carlyle non slip.

Quite a few people have put them through their paces. From what I've heard and read they work as well as Snap on flank drive, supercombos, or wrightgrip.

Nothing mechanical. There are two pressure washer in between the fork which help the head to not flop around. Well they wore down. I belive I lost one and got sick of it. So I brought them in. They had no repair parts they couldn't order them. At least the washer. So they exchanged them. Different design. I can post more close ups if you wanr

Sorry to bring this thread up from the dead, but i was wondering how the sockets fit on fasteners? If they were tight like snap on and mac sockets, or loose like the craftsman i have?

They fit tight on any fastener I've used mine on. I love the 3/8 sockets. I have the shallows and deeps.

Good. I'm thinking about getting the external torx bundle, I've got the harbor freight impact versions but i'm fixing to be doing a transmission pull on my bmw, and will have to deal with e12 and e14s in a rather tight spot....

These were the replacements I got when the pressure washer took a **** in the fork portion if the flex head. These were given to me because they couldn't give me any replacement parts. I wish the weren't a locking flex

How are the Flare nut wrenches? Anybody have a set and put them to good use

scarecrow505,

GJ member "Loscaldazar" owns a Carlyle metric flare nut wrench and left a positive thread comment after using it here: LINK.

UPDATE: Here is another thread with a couple positive comments about those Carlyle wrenches: LINK.

One odd thing I noticed is it says their flare nut wrenches are made from CrMo steel instead of CrV like every other flare nut wrench I've ever seen.

Just picked up the 1/4 and 3/8 roto ratchets to be my first Carlyle purchases. So far I really like them though I haven't put them through their paces or anything yet. They seem like very nice quality which I fear will be bad news for my wallet because I really want the 90 tooth ratchets as well...even if I have no real "need" for them...

Will do. I've got quite a bit of work planned for our cars this weekend so I should be able to give it a pretty good workout, I'll report back...

So there seems to be fairly positive reviews for Carlyle, In the market for a few wrench sets and a socket set, for about the same money I can get Carlyle or SK which is what I have been leaning towards, what would be the better choice?

In my opinion it just comes down to which you would prefer. SK is a thoroughly USA made company, Carlyle is Taiwan. Both of good quality.

SK has a hassle free warranty for tools that haven't been abused. Mail it to them, they mail you a new one. Carlyle is warrantied at your local Napa so it could be a bit quicker.

Most of the Carlyle stuff is blue and yellow, SK is green. Not that important, but again, it's just what ever you like better.

Thanks for the reply cummins, so basically your saying the quality is a toss up its just a preference thing

For me personally since price is about equal I'd go with USA.

Those Carlyle tools catch my eye EVERYTIME I'm in Napa though. Haven't given in yet.

As an owner of an AMC-era Jeep, I'm kinda curious how the Carlyle Torx hold up.

Carlyle P900 long reach plier set. Includes the P910 & P911. Compared to the Crescent X2 and GearWrench 82106 Double X Pliers Set. These are 13.25" long.

I went to my local NAPA to check out some of the Carlyle tools only to be told by the mofo behind the counter that they didn't sell Carlyle anymore.........yet there was a Carlyle floor jack on the ground by the entrance. And these idiots think they deserve $15/hour.

Carlyle, as a whole, is a much higher quality product than their distribution system, that is, NAPA as a whole.
If you have a ****** local NAPA, you're kinda SOL.
My local keeps their Carlyle so far behind the counter that they move hardly any product. Which circles around to them not emphasizing the brand at all. Because of theft they say.
Let's see, sell two ratchets a year, or sell 30 while getting three stolen. I'd pick the latter.
