First ever Carlyle tool. Picked up the used swivel head 3/8 for a great deal. Heavy diesel mechanic for a living. Looking forward to putting it to the test. They really have a nice line of tools

It’s not metal all the way to the end of the grip. Be careful with the last 2 inches. Other than that, it’s a great tool

Please consider posting a review after you’ve used it for a while. I always like hearing from HD guys because you use your stuff hard. If you don’t break it I certainly won’t.

58792e2337df66e2e24f98f8afec3a5a.jpg I’ve used these pretty hard for the last few days. They are built well and the teeth are sharp. Decently tight and have a pinned joint. Comparable to a Matco set I retired to the home box

Pretty much exactly. I tell ya I’m a pro diesel tech and they are holding up as good as my tool truck stuff and a ton easier to warranty

Look what showed up finally! Really like the feel and heft if it.
The 30 oz stubby makes more sense to me than the TC 43 oz, but maybe I gotta get one of those too.

New favorite hammer, it's like the perfect size. Now I gotta get one for the service truck.

I’ve been trying to justify the purchase of my first ever flex-head ratchets for a year. I’ve finally got a project coming up where a 1/2” flex ratchet will make it much easier to access a couple bolts, so I ordered these along with the parts:

The 3/8’s wound up being ideal for a couple if little projects on the steering and suspension on my wife’s Acadia tonight. I suspect I’ll have more use for the 1/2” tomorrow when I drop the gas tank in my truck. Not really looking forward to that job.

Anyone know where to get a Carlyle decal or aluminum type badge for a HF toolbox rebadge?

I'm curious about how well the locks hold up on those. I have the 1/4 version and the lock let's go with lateral pressure.

I'd like to hear what that guys who bought the 30oz stubby deadblow ball peen hammers think of them. I can buy one a little cheaper directly from Trusty Cook, but they don't carry the 30oz, only the 43, which seems excessive in a stubby handle.

Read back a couple of pages through this thread, I think there was some discussion about TC classifying theirs by the total weight, while these (and most other hammers) are classified by head weight. I think they decided it’s likely the same hammer.

I read that discussion and thought they were talking about Trusty vs other OEM's not Trusty vs the retail brands they provide for.

I guess I could call over there and ask them haha.

No-one has commented yet on what they think about it in use, whether the stubby length is actually handy or not.

Emailed Trusty Cook and they confirmed that the 43oz is the same at the Napa 30oz. The theory about total weight vs head weight is correct.

Sweet, now I just have to wait until TC runs another good promo and pick me up a stubby on the cheap!

Just got the 8” Slip Joint Pliers. Love them. Great grip, cross hatched teeth, etc. In the last picture I’m squeezing them as hard as I can with one hand and there’s barely any flex.

That's too bad because it makes it hard for anyone without a commercial account to save 20% on the tools. They are in the flyer most of the time but still annoying.

NAPA rewards is interesting. If you spend $95 you can wait a year then go spend $5 and get a reward to use. If you spend $150 you only have 30 days then you lose your $5 reward. Short expiration times on rewards make them feel more like a scam.

Is this a “new, old stock” ratchet, or did they change the head designs to move the screws from the back cover plate to the front?

The 90 tooth ratchets have a c-clip and no screws.

This picture from user; joedodge, is 90 tooth with the screws, that’s why I was asking, didn’t know if they were changing the design.

There is a 3/4" drive SAE socket set in the real deal flyer. Does anyone have it? I'm curious about fit and finish and COO. I have looked for some used sets but so far everything I've seen has been comically expensive. This is a good price unless it's the same China junk harbor freight sells.

The long (25”) 1/2” Drive Ratchet for 39.99 looks like a heck of a deal. That along with some hex sockets and a work light are on my list.

Damn, I really need some glasses! I recognized the ratchet but had to zoom in to see the screws.

People with Commercial accounts save 20% on Carlyle tools? :shocking: I need a commercial account!

All three Napa's around my area stock mostly evercraft. They simply say they don't sell enough Carlyle. Then again it's always hiding behind a bunch of other b******* behind the counter. Maybe if they would display it better it would sell.

All NAPA's around here have a whole display dedicated to Carlyle.

They are comparable because they are the same thing with different handle colors. I have a couple Carlyle Pliers and a co worker has Matco. Everything about them is identical down to the packaging of the sets.

For $70, it would be hard to go wrong. Everything else I’ve seen from carlyle, I’ve liked. Fit and finish have been excellent. COO on almost all is Taiwan. The TC hammers are all I can think of right now that are US. Haven’t seen any China.

That’s what I’m thinking. If this is Taiwan COO it’s a pretty good deal. Tekton, Harbor Freight, Northern tool all sell steel 3/4” stuff from China that might be serviceable but looks like absolute garbage.

I don’t ‘need’ 3/4” drive but I recently picked up a breaker bar and ratchet for a decent price so not having sockets is silly.
