Yea. If you just look up my replies on my profile you’ll find the comment to the guy who bought them and what he felt about them. Plus you can see some pics of what they actually look like

Does anyone know if Napa still have those tent sales I recall reading about that in another thread. And if so. Roughly what month do they do it. Thanks in advance

These are my recent purchases. Bought the 2 Intrepid Heroes ratchets from a member here, but the rest of the tools are from the local NAPA, bought on the tool sale.

I got a couple of the usual suspects these past few months.

5 pc metric and 4 pc sae double box flex reversible wrenches. These are rebranded wrenches also sold under the EZ-Red, Mountain and Klutch brands. I've wanted a pair of these sets for years but never felt like shelling out the coin. This sale sent me over the edge finally. I've been a little disappointed in the QC to be honest, however. The metric set is good other than it being an 'open-box' as I discovered when I got it home. It was packing taped back together and the storage tray is shattered on one side. I took them back two days later and the associate pretty much told me he isn't doing **** about the 'packaging' being damaged. I tried to explain how the tray is a storage tray and is intended by Carlyle to be such but he gave me the 'have a nice day sir' deal and I had to walk out before things were said. On the SAE set one of the heads was installed backwards at the factory. The anvils are on opposite sides from each other on each wrench. One of them has the anvils protruding out the same side. Also. the 7/16" back drag is super spongy and quiet on one direction. It barely catches the teeth and will hold from there but you can't even feel the clicks on the back drag. Perhaps I'm being picky but I paid a lot of money for these and want them to be right.

The other tool is the no-brainer $40 25" 1/2"-drive ratchet.

A couple of others (myself included) also seemed to receive open box or used ratetching wrenches, and I got EXTREMLY used ratchets, one so bad the thing was locked up and inoperable. Kind of ****** and odd, given we're all expecting new products when ordered. No idea who's double checking things before accepting returns or even worse, allowing them to be shipped. As far as warranty or exchanges, I was also told to kick rocks because the wrenches appeared to work fine. Kind of soured my experience toward Napa and Carlyle, but the wrenches I have are sweet, love using them at least.

I'd say email Napa corporate and go from there. Good luck and hope you enjoy using whatever you end up with, they're pretty nice

Who knows?
On the double-box, flex head, reversible ratcheting wrenches...

...is anyone else noticing a light strike/stamping of the “Carlyle” on the 13mm-15mm?

I’m debating whether to try and swap it out or not.

Not on mine. Probably not something I would swap a wrench out for.

I think I posted this pic before.

A friend of mine was a hell of a machinist. He had an aneurysm pop in his brain and is no longer able to be a machinist. His kids raided his tools, so he had nothing left.

I was down at his house one day, when he got up and said he had something I may like. He went to a drawer, and pulled this out. It is my only Carlyle. I have Napa branded stuff, but no Carlyle besides this.

It is a 1-1/4” which is absolutely perfect for the crank bolt on my Mopars.

It seems dang well made, and sure is purdy!

If you don't have to have the yellow and blue handle....create an account at Tekton's site and shipping is free

The Carlyle is a "keep in the truck unit" for me. If you're gonna use it for regular wrenching the Tekton has a MUCH better feel in the mechanism (not necessarily the handle - that's very personal preference)

....or I recently posted about a Power Torque 120T 24" ratchet at O'Reilly in the "Need a beastly 1/2" ratchet" thread. $35 retail although I think the handle would flex under heavy load. Pros: cheap, readily available as most are close to an O'Reilly. I bet most stores would warranty it easily, although I've never tried to do so at an O'Reilly.

I know this is a Carlyle thread so I beg the board's pardon but I feel it's relevant if people were seeking a 24" Carlyle which is NLA

edit: the Power Torque is made in Taiwan

Some Carlyle goodness arrived today

I think we are on the same wavelength, I ordered the pistol grips, flex head spline drives in metric, 3 piece pliers set, bent handle flex head, and a few other items. Got most of them in but waiting on the flex head spline drives, they should be here tomorrow. Gonna order a few other things and get pics when it’s all bundled together. Also have about a $400 order from Frankstools coming in too. I always liked tools but this place ignited my addiction

Anyone have the long half inch drive ratchet they’d part with? Ordered one from my NAPA it was lost in transit now they can’t locate me another one.

Finally sprung for the 19 piece metric wrench set this week. Really noce upgrade over my raised panel Cman set. Not pictured, I picked up a crimper, too.

Just a heads up the quarterly sale ends tomorrow night so if you're eyeballing something it might be 6-9 months before it comes around again.

Pretty much everything is still available for online order in my region except the long double box standard set.

I missed out on the 25” ratchet. Ordered it at the store then they called me back and said they couldn’t get it until August and it wouldn’t be the sale price then. I sure do wish it could have been ordered online.

How's that pistol grip plier set in terms of quality? Tips nice and tight?

They appear so, yes.

IIRC they list 'em as a snap ring plier set on the invoice. A mistake I assume.

I've got a cheaper Husky set with kinda slippery, black grips. The shape of the handle on these and the grippier handles are what I like.

I just did a blower motor on an '03 Town & Country. You have to cut carpet behind the dash and then rip it out, running mostly vertical on the firewall. The best way I came across to grab the carpet/padding and tear it out was my Husky pistol grips, but they weren't big enough and the handles ****. I ordered the Carlyles the next day, knowing they were on sale.

What I don't get is why run the same tools? For instance the long 1/2 ratchet, people were having a hard enough time finding it in stock or ordering it, now we advertise it for full price?

Isnt that the idea behind supply and demand lol? Supply decreases, price increases. They cant keep up with orders at 40 dollars so they'll sell fewer at whatever the new price this quarter. Or none at all, because 130 is crazy.

Unfortunately, it looks like this quarter's real deals flyer is a wash for me too. Oh well, I don't really need anything. It is disappointing though that they're offering the same stuff at higher prices this quarter. :wtf:
Considering you can get the Tekton two foot long 1/2 drive ratchet for a third of this quarter's price for the Carlyle version, I don't think they'll be too many takers even if NAPA had them to sell

Yea this is what they do with the Carlyle line, that's why I wanted to update people the first Q deals were expiring because the "real" quarterly discounts are only a couple times a year.
