the older roto head was better as easily stripped for clean and lube, the new ones are factory crimped in centre .
I think the toptul roto's worth look at, can be found for fraction carlyle price with or without moulded grip and they nice quality and can be serviced .
Crescent roto heads another value option for nice spec roto ratchet .

Good point on the disassembly. I guess outside of cleaning through a good atf/mystery oil dunk, rebuild ability isn’t possible with the new ones which is a shame. Looking at the rebuild kits for these it looks like the whole head gets replaced.

Got a few Carlyle tools with the latest real deals discounts. I wound up with a screwdriver set, wire cutting/stripping set, and a long 3/8 flex head ratchet for about $145 (before tax). Carlyle tools aren't the cheapest but when coupled with some discounts they offer a pretty good value and competitive quality to tools that cost much more IMHO.

Is that the R38F ratchet? My go to in the shop, love the small head.

Picked up this 3.5 ton jack on sale for $199... according to my local store this one is the most popular of any jack they sell and lasts the longest. It does have rebuild kits available if ever needed. That was a big factor to me since I debated against the harbor freight Daytona jack but I don’t think they sell parts??? This one weighs 100lbs so it has some weight to it! Also picked up this long cabinet style Phillips for $13!

Picture of my Napa 3.5 ton jack next to my old harbor freight 3 ton jack... this one lifts higher, weighs more and has a longer handle. It was $199 but there is no comparison. So glad to get rid of the crappy harbor freight! You can see the difference in the lift mechanism and surrounding body of the jack

I've had the 1/4" version of this for while. This 3/8" came in today's mail. I'd like the 1/2" too but don't really need it. Maybe I can find a way to rationalize it later.

I love my Carlyle ratchets but hate how they are shipped with no lubricant on in the ratchet head. I have wanted to service mine but was worried about the black plastic plug on the backside. Turns out, nothing to be worried about! I used a pick to remove the plug, used needle nose pliers to compress the snap ring and pulled the gear out... covered it with super lube, reinstalled in a matter of minutes. I did reinstall the black cover but you don’t have too as it is just covering the very end of the snap ring

Do you have a mic? If you do mic the open ends on some. I've noticed on wrenches it's not so much about steel strength (they are all about the same for decent ones) it's about how closely milled the open ends are. The box ends tend to be consistent across brands.

It took me a while to swap my Cman pros and RP's (regular combos) for tight open ends, but it was worth the effort. Strong wrenches and cheap as compared to others.

I doubt a mic is going to be any help. Calipers will be for sure.

Anyone know how to service a new Carlyle 3/8 swivel head ratchet, it appears that it could use some lubrication to be smoother. Thanks :)

Bought the same ratchet from WCP. Gave mine a mystery oil dunk but it still needs to break in still. My quarter inch is nice and smooth after 2 years.

Just picked these up.

They are scary close to the same exact thing as my Icon metric wrench set. 63d89bfc0e03c40c3860386300b47aa7.jpg

I never noticed the similarities in YouTube videos and forum pics. Too late now haha.

I've heard good thing about them, and if you already have Carlyle, the warranty should be easy if you need it. At least around here there are a ton of NAPA locations.

Hope you see this after all these years. Looks like you have the reversible ratcheting Carlyle wrenches and the USA Proto splines as well. I’m debating between the two sets. Which do you prefer? Which are longer?

Very nice!!! I see those scrapers being released under many brands lately.

Did you make that hose pick with the Craftsman handle off to the right?

Nope, it is factory [emoji41][emoji41][emoji41] just kidding, another member on here made them. It was about 9 years ago... I can’t recall his user name but it was something with a mustang reference. It was a total of 3 picks

Carlyle is my favorite probably cause of the pricing, wish they were longer though...

So you prefer the protos if not for the price? What do you think of the spline drive vs six point? I get the length between the two are different. I have the proto asd regular old non ratcheting combos.

Recently bought this Torx driver set. Huge upgrade from my Cman. I also like the feel of the hand grips. Length is good, not to long or too short like the Cman. Does not skip the T27 as some sets do. I only wish it had the hex bolster. However you can put a another driver in the hole in the handle for more torque, if needed. I recommend them....Especially if you can get them on sale.

Got these from a fellow member. R3890 and R1290. Definitely plan on getting some more Carlyle tools. Ratchet wrenches might next. I enjoy the quality for the price.

Picked up this nice screwdriver set from a member here selling brand new napa tools. $41 shipped to my door! I have been wanting this set for a while due to the shank with bolstering on it so you can tighten screws with a wrench! Also, I have some of Carlyle's ratchets in this color so naturally I needed matching screw drivers of course! Tips are hardened as well. I havent used them yet but they look good so far. I probably wont use them in super oily circumstances but they feel good in the hands so far!

I have been using this set this weekend on a bunch of rusted screws while working on my old truck. They are fantastic. They grip well in your hand and the tips are top notch! Plus the bolstering works well when you need it. I would highly recommend this set , especially when they go on sale! You wont be disappointed.

Recently became interested in Carlyle - but NAPA's website leaves a lot to be desired for finding products and descriptions. Is there a PDF catalog or some better way to find listings? Even though I've pretty much managed to figure out the part numbering schemes, it's still a pain. Would really like to look things over and figure out how much coverage I could get from which sets...in one place.

Hope this link works. The Carlyle catalog should be at the bottom.

Metric impact sockets, flare nut wrenches, 1/4" torque wrench, thanks to the guy who put-up the Hammond LA NAPA sale. I wasn't familiar with the opening flare nut wrenches, so I'm anxious to give 'em a go.
