I have a vibrating tumbler that I use for reloading. I ran several dozen sockets through it the other day from my trail bag that were rusty and when they came out they looked almost new. I'm just using corn cob media, nufinish car wax, and the HF tumbler.

Re: show off your carftsman tools

I wouldn't know where to start. I've been buying/acquiring hand tools since the early 1980s. 95%+ are Craftsman branded. I've got at least 250 sockets, 125 wrenches, a couple dozen ratchets, etc., etc. In the last five years I've been buying mostly old Craftsman =V= tools.

Don't use EvapoRust on any of these. It will eat the chrome/nickel plating.

For the Sockets - I would soak in CLR for an hour or two, then clean up with a FINE wire wheel if needed, using a light touch. Oil when done.

For the Case - It depends on your final goal. You could strip it to bare metal and repaint, Or you could clean it up with Simple Green, LIGHTLY scuff the rusted area with a scotchbright to remove the loose flakes. Then put several layers of paste wax on it with a buffing between layers. Remember to let each layer harden overnight between buffing and adding the next layer.

For the Wrenches - I don't see any rust, so soak them in Simply Green overnight. Rinse, oil, and polish. Done.

Re: show off your carftsman tools

Box 1 more pics to come.

That is a really cool box  can we (I ) get a few more pics? Background story maybe. Looks like it is from the late 70's to 80's? :dunno:

I'd be willing to bet everyone has a little craftsman in them or shall I say their box.

Majority of my tools are craftsman USA. Here are a few of my favorites, nothing rare or crazy cool, but they mean something to me.

1.) Old pair of craftsman pliers, were my dad's.
2.) My favorite screwdrives, or style. I really liked to old craftsman professional black handle screwdrivers. Other one I recently learned that craftsman made orange handle screwdrivers. Color me intrigued.
3.) The very top box is my first tool box. We didn't have much but it was a gift in my early teens. Ain't the best built, but it served me for years and it will be with me till the day I die. In case you are wondering, inside the top lid is a chart of socket sizes in order metric and SAE. O and BTW, before anyone asks. All those other boxes were bought used. Less than $200 total. Yes that includes the KR637/657 on the right.

Re: show off your carftsman tools

Here are two of my earlier C'Man ratchets in 3/8" and 1/2". The body of these are a lighter material than the steel used in my BE's. Any ideas on the ID's of these? Nice little ratchets but the stampings appear off but I don't know.

Did they make a 1/4" in this style? If so anyone have one to get rid of?

Re: show off your carftsman tools

((The least you could do is spell Craftsman correctly is the thread title...))

At last count I had over 800 pieces from the Craftsman lineup...

My wife bought me 107 USA made wrenches for Christmas last year...

Re: show off your carftsman tools

I have metric wrenches up to 19mm and SAE up to 3/4". Have three sizes of adjustable wrenches, and small ignition wrenches. Also have various pliers. I've got SAE and metric 3/8 (shallow & deep) and 1/2 drive sockets - got a metric and sae 1/4 drive socket set over the summer. Also have various extensions and adapters. Pretty much everything is USA made. Also have cman screwdrivers (not pictured).

Will post pictures of my ratchets later.

(sorry for the photo quality, after my small digital camera died, I've had to use my phone camera.)

I would hate to count, I bet I have more like 10,000 Craftsman tools.

Sorted out 63 sockets for a guy on here and didn't even make a dent in the extra sockets.

I bought a tub of Craftsman a while back,I think there was 500 pieces in just that tub.

Edit make that 698!

"This last Friday I hit several sales but no tools worth buying. I stopped at one of the local pawn shops and spied a large plastic tub with a pair of Craftsman teardop 1/2" ratchets on top. Sign said $50 for the whole tub. I dug into it and realized it was full of Craftsman sockets and it was very heavy. So after buying and sorting it out I came with 698 Craftsman tools, mostly 1/4, 3/8 and a few 1/2" sockets. A little bit of early =V= stuff too."

Craftsman Industrial 13pc Deep Metric Set
8158514869_db297f843d_z.jpg

you sure those 12pt deeps are industrials? they have the metric hashmarks, and all the industrial sockets i have, and have seen do not have those, and the made in USA mark is in a different spot on the socket.

my local outlet has those sets for super cheap, $9.99 i think, but they were regular craftsman.

Here's a few older Craftsman 1/2" drive =V= ratchets. Notice the the design changes over the years. If I had to guess, I'd say the ratchet at the top of the picture is 1940s to 1950s vintage, the ratchet in the middle is probably 1950s to 1960s, and the one on the bottom is 1960s to 1970s. All three have an oil port on top of the head. I could be totally wrong about the their respective vintages, but anyway, still nice old ratchets with the =V= manufacturer's mark on them.

Yeah I think your right, they're regular Craftsman. I was buying up the USA made Craftsman socket sets last year in order to complete my socket collection during the Sears Outlet deals. That set I think I scored from eBay.

I took a job last year overseas that required your own tools so I sold them there when I quit. That left me at home with only metric tools and no toolbox. I did a lot of research for home use boxes and purchased the HF 44" and this is a picture of my top drawer. I love the Hansen socket trays except the ones that you cannot buy. I was disappointed when the sockets I purchased in the module from Sears.com where not USA made. but am dealing with it as best I can. I purchased all three modules for each drive and an additional extension set with universals and then the spark plug sockets as well. I have a shipment due in this Friday with some of the open spots to be filled after this past Cyber Monday sale. On and I also enjoy having all my tools shadowed as I am currently a contractor for the USAF and I really enjoy the ease of seeing if anything is missing.

Bought all my Craftsman's back in 1976. 100% made in USA. This is just my top tray. Every other drawer is full of Craftsman's screwdrivers, wrenches, etc, etc...

I love my Craftsman tools, still my favorites. Just found out today that I can buy Craftsman Industrial tools through Applied Industrial. Was looking at the catalog at work and the prices arent bad at all, obviously not Sears $$ but for sure not Snap-On $$. I will be purchasing some of that gear soon. Great pics fellas!
