You can see several of mine in this pic. I have a mix of mostly original signs with some repros.

You would have more room for signs if you'd sell me that rusty old truck....

Well since old Coke coolers & such have been added to the mix here's some stuff I picked up cheap just to tinker with. The Coke cooler has been gutted out completely by the previous owner. He was making it into a trailer to tow behind his hotrod. Not going to go nuts on it since I paid 50 bucks and it's missing damn near everything. Maybe a repaint and a wooden top & call it a table. I need the bottle opener & cap catcher box that goes on the outside if anyone has a line on one. The Dr Pepper machine in a 10 cent machine from the 50s and is complete minus the coin mechanism so I may try to get it working. Time will tell if it ever holds cold soda or if I turn it into a gun cabinet. The Coke sign, some of you may recognise from "Clints" on the Old Newport Highway heading into Pigeon Forge TN.

You could e-mail Rick at Rick's Restorations seeing that he restores those and has a slew of them. The only thing is that it may cost you $2 or $3 thousand

Seriously, I'd drop him an e-mail and ask.

New to me, but recently old:

CL purchase today. Two sided: 3' X 1' X .5'. Works, and came in original box.
"Union Made in USA sticker on interior, and date of manufacture: '1997'. Replaced black electric wire with white, so as to hide it when I mount it off of the ceiling tomorrow.

Cheers,

Bruce

LoL.. I belong to another forum called soda-machines.com and Ricks has been the topic of discussion many times. I will not go into detail but let's just say you pay triple for a job half as good as other places. I stopped taking that show seriously when I watched him quote someone several thousand dollars to restore a bicycle... I bought my stuff cheap just to tinker with and enjoy doing my own work. If I was going to have a perfectly restored soda machine I'd start with one that's in alot better condition. Thanks for the tip though.

Ok spill the secret buying site that all of you get these from. Have my garage I would love to get some in, but in order to that I have to take out a second mortgage and auction my kids off for the price of some of these signs LOL. All the above garages look freaking awesome.

There really is no secret. It is just a matter of searching, shopping & waiting. My signs for the most part aren't what one would call "Rare,Elite or Primo". The Citgo sign I just posted was purchased for either $25 or $35. In my opinion the border I made for it (thanks to Robletecia's convincing) is what makes it show so well. A few hundred bucks will go a long way if spent well.

Let my son hang this one in his bedroom,

Picked this up years ago, likely a repro. One of these days I'm going to light it up.

Flea Markets usually command a high price for signs. But there are a lot of repop signs out there that makes great decorations for the garage. Keep an eye out on CL as you can find some great deals there.

For around $20, you can pick up a used overhead projector like we had in school. Buy a pack of transparency sheets from WallyWorld for a few bucks, get online and find a picture you like, get a long straight edge, some pencils, something to make a few curves, find a blank space on your wall, trace what you have, then fill in the colors. Just make sure you color inside the lines.

Just down the road from me in Springfield, Ohio, we have one of the large Interstate Flea Markets. They have one whole room that is filled with repopped signs for decent prices.

And if you live in a town, or close to a town that has a few antique stores in it, check them out too. My wife has picked up a few original items for cheap. One was a yellow Stop Sign that she only paid $25 for. They quit making the yellow signs in '45 I believe. And it DOESN'T have any bullet holes in it.

Also if you know someone that works for the city, or county, or even the state, ask them what older signs they have laying around in their Maintenance Building.

I did just that, soon as I'm done touching up my half arshed drywall mudding,
I'll paint and see how that works.
One word of caution on the overhead projector make sure you can get replacement bulbs for it before you buy. I suppose you could rig something
but who wants another project.

Here is another one of mine. I have the original pole (no lights though) for it and hope to get it sandblasted, painted, and standing in front of my shop this summer.

Sorry for the gigantic images... Can't seem to find a way to post smaller.

Here's a neon dealership sign I recently got to display with my '59...

That is a 20hp oilfield engine. Originally was a steam engine made in the late 1890's I'm told. Converted to run off the natural gas that came from the well heads in the 20's.

I used a 35w automotive fog light bulb and a 12v power supply to light mine after the bulb went bad. Took longer to dig the power supply out of my wire supply box than it did to convert it.

Oh I was telling my wife about that Winnebago Tonka I had as a kid.
And how my parents who saved everything tossed my Winnebago Tonka.

Glad to see one out there still!
