Let's see some signs! I know some of you guys have some killer signs. Here are the signs I've got outside. Mostly old timers. But two aren't.

All of my old ones are still packed in the corner until i get the place straightened up.

Good news is that I now stay at a Holiday Inn Express every night so i can do anything.

Is it just me - or does anyone else like seeing inside other guys shops?! HotFR8, you've got a beauty, glad you reposted it. Tell, us how you got some of those signs...and how many signs where "borrowed indefinitely"...;)

And where does one get a Holiday Inn sign?

See the road sign in the back of this picture? I found a few big ones at the metal recyclers. I didn't know, but they get them from the city all the time and sell for scrap prices. I'll have to go again.

I design and build signs for a living. It was a temp sign that was replaced by a 20ft tall pylon after the hotel logo changeover. I bring home **** like this all the time. Our installers get the good stuff after it comes off the wall

There is a Shell and Exxon station closing here. (Road widing.) They have a few plastic signs I'm thinking about scavaging. They exxon doesn't have anything special but the Shell has one 3 or 4 foot square sign with a shell on it thats screwed to the dumpster fence.

Borrowed :headscrat.....I think I had to make the same comment last time I posted the photo of my signs. They are all out of date and so could not be used again. Lucky me I got them for nothing.:lol_hitti:beer:

I recently got an old railway sign from my home town and as yet to put it up. Just lucky to have a relative that works for the railways and could get it for me.

I think it comes down to being in the right place at the right time  and who you know  not what you know.

You ask for signs, well this old highway sign would be the cream of the crop for Elroy. Notice there are NO bullet holes in it:

Here is the one I'm thinking of grabbing. It's a old one, cracked on the corner some. The one on the ground is busted up on the bottom corner. They are close to 5' square. The county is going to bulldoze them.

I'd grab it then cut out the 'shell' and mount it on a red piece of board.

My employers collection:

Includes many many items over $1000+, including a original Packard dealership neon, which was appraised at 0ver 30k. Tons of clocks and thermometers. The 40x48 barn is out of wall room for the collection. Adding on an office and two more bays soon to expand. Everything is original except for the two newer neons he had made at the back of the shop. Will try and get pictures of the two sides later this week.

Here is my old Firestone service sign. When I found it 20 years ago it was being used for a floor in a yard shed.

Holiday Inn maybe? :lol_hitti

Here are a few of mine, or what I have pics of at the moment. On the question of signs.....does anyone have any of the old "Stop" signs or "Railroad" signs with the marbles in them to post up. I know where there is one of each with replacement marbles but the guy WILL NOT come off of them. I have tried for a few years now.

Here's one I've repainted. I didn't have a good before pic. It had some oil base paint on it. Looked like a kid tried to touch it up years ago. It was hanging above the door on my barn.

That's pretty cool--I've got the same Penzoil "Sound Your Z" sign as HIRISC (it came off my uncle's barn) and the same Champion Spark Plugs box that Duece has. The box was never hung up before I got it a few years ago, but it didn't come with a key either. I should have one made.

I've also got a pair of Gulf gas station price signs: metal, with "Gulf NoNox and Good Gulf" on them, and a spot to hang the price next to the gas letters... 2-digit numbers, from 19-cents to 40-some centers. They're all metal, with enamel paint. Got them when I moved here to Georgia 5 years ago--my first week in town, was driving around and saw them outside an old gas station, laying against a seat. Asked the guy about them and he sold the whole set to me for $35--they'd never been hung up, and still had the paper between the number panels.

A few years ago I went home for Thanksgiving, and when we rolled into town on Tuesday evening, the Sunoco station I always filled up at was empty, but people were working inside. The next day I came back with $35, my dad's 12-foot ladder and his cordless drill to take the 24-inch tall SUNOCO letters off the wall. The hornets that were living behind the letters were not happy. I got stung about two dozen times, got some wasp killer and went back up and got my letters! They're spaced in my shop about a foot apart, and command a pretty big space on my wall. What's really funny is it turns out I ended up working with a guy who also grew up in that town (we're NE of Atlanta, the town was outside Toledo, Ohio), and he used to fill up at that station too.
