After looking locally for a couple of years I finally gave up on finding a good set of screw drivers from a brick and mortar retailer.

I ordered a set off the intranets. It appears that my German brothers make a decent screwdriver.

This was really the only set I could find that had all the features I wanted. Hex bolster, striking cap/through shaft, no soft rubber, rough textured handle, and most important... tips that actually fit in screw heads properly.

The old Snap on hard handles can go in the road box now.

I love my microfinish wiha drivers. I'm only sad that they stopped making them in all black, as I thought they looked very nice like that. Anyone know why?

I thought this thread needed a bump. :D

I'll post pictures of my screwdrivers in a day or so.

Note: Which brands besides Craftsman and Snap-On make pocket screwdrivers with a clip? :headscrat

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I was in my local Ace store this past weekend and saw that they had one of these in the clearance section BRAND NEW! Guess I should have grabbed it, maybe Ill look for it tomorrow.

PS: @ Oak Park: Thanks again for the ratchet last July.

I think those were made by Enderes as that they sold those too at ACE Hardware and they were identical except for the handle colors.

Exceller8, I have tons of pocket clip screwdrivers, all with various manufacturers' names on them as giveaway items.
I also have a bunch of the LUTZ 2 in 1 drivers from different hardware stores, and a couple Enderes but they have a plastic clip.

Jeff, I forgot about the Lutz, they're pretty decent. Any other quality pocket screwdrivers with a pocket clip? The giveaway ones are usually pretty poor quality.

Since discovering the great fit of the classic Proto Professionals, I've been trying to assemble a workable set. Here's my current line-up, as of 5/14

Here's a bad cellphone picture of my Screwdriver drawer. Straight blade on the left, then phiiips, then torx on the extreme right.

Wow!!, those are some bright and shiny handles, why you can still read all of the gold lettering. You need to use those puppies. Break em in, get em dirty fix ing something or breaking something, then fixing it.:D

i'll play along sorry for crummy camera phone pics...

ScrewdriverDrawer1.jpg

^^ these are my "general purpose" screwdrivers for house or garage, mostly proto "classic" with yellow acetate handle along with a few S-K (manufactured by facom, i believe) drivers for odd bits like robertson (tm) and pozidriv that i picked up over at epstein's closeout section. i have been real happy with these proto drivers, the acetate handles are both comfy and highly resistant to accumulation of dirt, grease and grime.

ScrewdriverDrawer2.jpg

^^ over to my electrical bag klein is mostly the rule of the day, with a little bit of witte (from that incredible 5-pack knipex deal on closeout at lowe's), xcelite, craftsman and even husky pro for good measure (very nice offset screwdriver; still made in usa too...) the craftsman set is almost more in there just for nostalgia's sake, it was the first real set of tools i remember buying at like age 12 or something. a lot of the tips are kind of bent up, LOL.

ScrewdriverDrawer3.jpg

^^ over from the more historical part of my toolbox i have some nifty old wood handled drivers. mostly apex and stanley; the apex on the far right came from packard motor co!

i also have a fair amount of handed down old craftsman red and blue acetate handles, a few odd stanley drivers (handyman, 100 plus) and a some other miscellanea but nothing as picworthy.

Scaron, have you used the Klein punchdown screwdriver (top left) very much? I've seen them at the supply houses but have not picked one up yet...I have 4 Fluke/Harris D914 impact tools lol
