Scaron, have you used the Klein punchdown screwdriver (top left) very much? I've seen them at the supply houses but have not picked one up yet...I have 4 Fluke/Harris D914 impact tools lol

good eye! i spotted it one day while i was at HD and had to have it, LOL. i think it's great for doing jacks; now i can stop carrying around all those little plastic punchdown tools you get when you buy bulk-packs, LOL. i would not want to use it to do an entire 66/110 block or ethernet patch panel, my ideal punchmaster II still reigns supreme for that application. it's perfect for the times when the usual spring loaded tool is overkill (i don't like to use the punchmaster on jacks, i feel like it's gonna blow em apart or something!)

That's a lot of screw drivers, lol.

And I'm working on filling up another drawer with specialty drivers and such .

nice box whats the story behind it did u make it or?

I wanted a tool box that had full width shallow drawers with at least 24in of depth to them. Unfortunately the only boxes that I came across were in excess of a couple thousand dollars, which I couldn't justify spending. So I ran across this flat file cabinet for dirt cheap, $200. After taking some measurements I decided it would be cheaper to convert this one over to a ball bearing tool chest. It would also be a nice project to work on over the winter. When its all said and done the dimensions of each drawer will be 44" x 30", and thats the inside dimensions too! Over all there will be 9 2.5in drawers and one 6in drawer. Which matches my requirements perfectly.

Looks like a blueprint cabinet to me.

Your spot on k-os, its a blueprint/flat file cabinet.

The family is away, the dog is asleep, so here goes...

Lower row are my users, left to right: no-name precision screwdriver set (one is not here but not missing); just above them are two Kleins, a 5-n-1 and an 11-n-1 (great while up a ladder but not used elsewhere); my go-to Williams set (I need to order some more, "tis the season" is coming up!); two Pratt-Read stubby phillips; my trusty Rosco Two-Fister slotted (like Linus and his blanket, I can NOT do without it!); and a Craftsman T20. Middle row l to r: some **** woodies; horizontal - three Stanley Bell System slotted woodies (not restored but aren't they the most elegant screwdrivers ever?) & my North Bros No. 30 Yankee; two minis (the little orange one must have came in a Crackerjack box and the red one is a Grainger phillips and slotted reversible with pocket clip for certified nerds that I use when I really want to impress); a Klein electrician's slotted; and two USA Husky phillips made into an awl and a gunsmith tip slotted. Top row: with the exception of the no-name bitdrivers they are stowed-away beaters (aka ****).

How is the quality of the slides on these types of cabinets? I've seen a few on Craigslist but was never sure how well they'd be able to handle the loads that filling them up with sockets, ratchets, etc. would present.

Junk drawer

I have some specialty stuff I should throw in, first up is my Gearwrench ratcheting driver kit.

Gearwrench_zps3f946b6e.jpeg

Next is a Mac torque screwdriver.

I have some more laying around like a Home Depot ratcheting driver in the junk drawer and some 8 in 1's in vehicles but that is pretty much it.

I almost got those matco nut drivers oddly enough from my snap on guy. They were used but in great condition. Do you like them?

I do. The handles are very comfortable. Made by Witte.

What price from your Snap-on guy.

$65. They were used. It was just for the metric set, but they had a storage tray with them. Same color too. I like that orange color with matco. I have a screwdriver set that color.

Those are awesome and I have found them on Amazon for less than $32 but what I want to know is are there any 6 piece sets? I can't have a set of screwdrivers that doesn't include a #3 Phillips.

Big 70's Proto. It's 19+ inches long.
Smaller one with 1/4" blade next to it and interchangeable bit Vaco up front.
There's something about the Vaco I don't like but it still comes with me on most adventures for weight and space savings.

Lot's of nice screwdrivers here. I just got this Sunex 8011BK thing to hang on the side of my box and it organized and free'd up some drawer space.

The three on each side of the rear flank are pry bars, the park tool is for spoke *******, and the c-man in the middle front needs something bigger to fit right.

They kind of find a home. I need a new hanger beside the electric loom I stuck up there, the common slotted seem to like to roost there. I got a little of everything, I am not real fussy as long as it works and that proves itself out. Got some junk that last a long time, some didn't, got some good that last, some didn't, this is something easily lost or damaged. I got in a hurry the other day and fuk up one that has been in service for decades, wasn't the tools fault.

I don't need any more or it would be specific but if I wasn't sure I would face this about like sockets and wrenches by getting a big ole flea mkt set or one from Sears with about 30 drivers in it, find out where you are, buy a few pieces you find yourself using over and over or something that failed and replace it, go from there.
I still have a few pieces that are remnants, as long as they lasted were well worth the cost of the whole set, some of them still work, not much lost.

I went to Menards nut drivers for singles, they are a dollar cheaper and have better color on the handle than the Klein. Bought 2 new 5/16 last yr and think I lost one the first week,,, ha. I need 2 more and at least 3 new razor knives, tossed 2 defective broke ones in the scrap last week.
