Here's my 1/4" socket set drawer, with a handmade foam liner cut from 1" medium density foam. I like it as it keeps everything from moving around as I move my top box from home to the airfield to work on aircraft at weekends.

And here's my metric spanner drawer from my top box:

I've left room in this one for additon of flare nut and stubby metric spanners as I go along. I'll probably do my 3/8" socket set drawer next.

Btw I wouldn't have got this organised if it wasn't for GJ

To the OP.... it is called ATAF. All Tools Accounted For. I was a 6469 in the USMC and a Collateral Duty Inspector. At the beginning of a maintenance action (repair), at a work stoppage and when the worker returns the toolbox key you must perform and ATAF. If you "pencil whip" and ATAF signoff, and something happens, I.E. a tool is missing or plane crashes etc, you will be looking at SERIOUS trouble.

Thanks! Makes sense that there's a colloquialism/acronym for it (ATAF). I never heard him use it but I'm sure he is familiar. You two are on the same page that there is definitely a guaranteed *** chewing or worse if you lose/misplace a tool. You'll likely lose your job if something bad comes of it, but you still could lose your job even if nothing serious happens, depending on the severity of the risk you caused. Thanks again

Nice tool organization! Can't help but notice a version of the infamous Robo Grip wrench in there

YUP! I think it's the only chinese piece in the set. If the kit doesn't sell on Ebay, I will likely replace it with something a bit better in quality (if I can find something with a common form factor) and probably replace the ratchets with some 72+ tooth or the likes from GW.

The whole point of control foam is to control tool inventory.

Black on black don't work as well.

Good point!! It doesn't work at all, you need the contrast to grab your attention. I used to do shadow boards, when I was teaching AIW workshops. Amazing how much people actually started to pay attention to what was happening in their stations.

I buy my Fastcap Kaizen through Rockler on Amazon, they have free shipping if you buy two. The only thing is they don't sell the black/white sheets there though, so you either have to glue a backing foam on yourself, or come up with some other solution if you want the visual aid for missing tools.
