I was on a television service call one time and the guy had a fairly large trash can in his basement where the TV set was. The outside of the trash can had been covered with glued on ******* magazine pictures. It was actually kind of cool, certainly different than your ordinary trash can.

I've got two, but nothing flammable goes in, other than paper.

Here's mine. My wife took a regular white plastic trash can and applied her graphic skills to make it a fitting garage trash can.

My trash can isn’t pretty, but it does have a story.

My in-laws used to own a small town Chevy dealership. They were the third generation to operate it.

When they closed down and sold out several years ago, I ended up with some neat artifacts, including one of the shop trash cans.

I admit that on more than one occasion I have thought about cleaning it up and painting it a nice shade of dark blue. However, I resist as I think about the history behind all of that patina!

Good call. That can screams "I have seen it all."

it's a long story how I came to want a "drydene" can, but anyway, I happened on it at Carlisle.

I also use a Mobilux EP1 drum the same size but it's not as pretty.

I got one of those water containers that came out of a fallout shelter.
Per instructions, I can also use it as a toilet after a nuclear attack.
Sage approves.

I have four garbage cans in my shop.

A 5-gallon Klotz can under my solvent tank. This was from our sand drag racing days and I cut the lid off.

Valvoline 16-gallon between my toolbox and 12’ workbench.

Union 16-gallon in the fabrication area next to the vertical bandsaw. This can was my dad’s from his old shop from the farm. This one is probably at least 45 years old.

Mobil 1 can next to the man door.

The Valvoline and Mobil 1 cans I bought when I was setting up my new shop.
