Thats a sweet machine. I don't know if I'd want to even use that it's so nice. :headscrat

Thanks Mike,
I kinda over-prettied his two vises as well and it was a mistake. I don't want him tip toeing around this equipment, I want it used! :)
I'm doing an older Wilton 1750 now and will purposely leave it a little fuggly.

Here's my import 24" geared head drill press. It a 3ph 220v with speeds from 55-1660. The column is 6" in diameter and is very rigid. It has a drilling mode as well as a tapping mode with a instant reverse foot pedal and variable down feed control speeds. The taper is 4mt and has no problem handling and 2 1/4" twist drill. I put a nice 3/4" jacobs chuck on it after I picked it up last year from a closing machine shop on craigslist for a song. The t slot table has a channel built in for a flood coolant system which I have yet to setup...I wish it was a cool usa model but those are hard to come by down here.

ok, I got it apart, it just needed some percussive persuasion with the inertial adjustment device :)

But now I've run out of paint :(

I know it's nothing much, nor is it pretty, but I just picked up a 10" Ryobi drill press from Home Depot. My first drill press ever!

Pics will be forthcoming.

This is not mine (yet) but I found it at an upcoming auction. I have never seen a camel back like this with an integral upper guard and a back gear in the drive. What do you think it is worth?

On edit, well this press now belongs to someone else. I knew I was in trouble when the bridgeport with no screws went for $325. The drill press went for $250. I just couldn't justify the price for my needs. It was a very cool machine.

no neat sig line

Hard to see all the details at this angle, but here's my latest drill press:

arboga-fin.jpg

$150, needed relatively minor work, gave it a full clean-and-paint. It's not 100% done just yet, though very close. The VFD and wiring is somewhat temporary, since we still need to wire 220V over to that side of the shop.

Arboga 825, eight speeds (technically infinite speeds with the VFD, including reverse in case I want to use left-hand drills) gear drive, MT3, 1.1HP, almost seven inches of quill travel, and a rare mill-style X-Y table for precision locating.

She's a monster. In low gear I doubt you could stop it with a crowbar. :D

My very first drill press, just picked it up this week. Ryobi 10". Nothing too fancy, but for what I need it for, it will be more than enough.

Mine's not nearly as cool or impressive as a lot of the ones posted but it's perfect for what I need it for. Couldn't pass up the deal. It was on sale at HD (20% off) and the only one i could see there was the floor model. Asked the tool section manager if he'd give me a few $ off if I took that one (it was just assembled the week before and wasn't hurt at all)and he said he'd knock another $50 off. As I was looking it over and testing it to make sure it was assembled correctly and that it was as it should be, one of the younger guys that worked there found one sitting high on the shelf in the box. The manager, I guess feeling a little embarassed that he didn't check the computer before making the offer, let me take the NIB one and still took $50 off the sale price. Not a give away price but I think I did OK. It's a nice unit, decent power and has zero wobble (read a few reviews that indicated huge vibrations and wobbles). Now to find a nice drill press vise for it!

Doc,

Was this the one that had the table broken off? I seem to recall you found an Arboga that fell over and broke a couple things a while back.

Nice looking machine!

I just picked this up yesterday. It's a Duracraft Industrial Machines DP 514. 1/2" chuck, 1/2 horsepower. Dated 1978 and Made in Taiwan . It should get me by, though!

Can anyone help me out with this radial drill press? I have pulled it apart and there aren't any markings...

Here it is cleaned up... and here it was before... I dissasembled it, cleaned up all the rust and grease and also rewired it as there were many frays in the existing cord. Now I need to dissasemble it again and paint it.

Anyone have a link to the hammertone paint that matches it? Also, what is the best way to clean up the table? Oh, and after the disasembly, I still don't have a manufacturer. Help!

Same model as Bad Karma's on page 5, an Atlas 1010

IMG_0021.jpg

Back in the late 60's I was with my dad at the paint store getting some solvent, and while they were filling our container a couple of guys were unbolting this from a workbench. They were replacing it with a floor model so my dad struck a deal with the owner, I think it was around $50, and we brought it home.

It served him well for twenty years until he passed on, I've had it since then and I'm sure it will outlast me as well.
