I just happened to be taking pix for the SK thread yesterday, and aside from the few wrenches with SK-lectrolite, I have these two with just "Lectrolite".

What's the history of Lectrolite?

Brian

S-k lectrolite would be very similar on the s-k diamond era. It would have the same knurled base sockets but the ratchet has a slightly different stamping. I can remember the exact stamping but here is 2 catalogs from s-k lectrolite to help.

I'm still researching but I think Lectrolite was born out of the demise of Milwaukee Tool and Forge in around '39. MTF produced Tru-Fit stuff as well and Lectrolite continued that until teaming with SK in June of '53. They remained S-K Lectrolite until Wayne bought S-K in '64. I'm not sure what happened to the Lectrolite side of the equation in '64 yet, haven't gotten that far.

These are combination wrenches from 15/16 to 1 1/4. I originally had the whole set but found I liked the Snap on long combinations in the smaller sizes. So in 1962 I bought the Snap on 3/8 to 7/8 and gave the S-K combos to my father. The S-K wrenches date to about 1958 to to the best of my memory.

After some digging I had to resort to using a s-k Wayne catalog for sizes on the boxes and from what I have seen from my boxes is sizes and set sizes were pretty uniform up to the dresser era which would cover s-k diamond Wayne and lectrolite. But based of them dimensions this is the closest size.

I found these modern looking Lectrolite wrenches at an estate sale last weekend. They greatly resemble my S-K combination wrenches and were likely made towards the end of Lectrolite production.

Here's my collection of Lectrolite wrenches:

1. C-40 1-1/4
2. C-36 1-1/8
3. C-30 15/16
4. C-28 7/8
5. C-26 13/16
6. C-24 3/4
7. C-22 11/16
8. C-16 1/4

These were given to me when my father-In-Law retired. He had a full set at one time. I still use them now and then, especially the larger ones.

I would like to fill in the missing ones if I can find them. Not sure what size they went up to. Does anybody know?

I just found a 18" Lectrolite pipe wrench.
If anybody is looking for new old stock Lectrolite wrenches, 60s to 70s S-K sockets and wrenches, please let me know.

I have no idea myself I started this thread to educate myself and other forum members, I figured someone should know about it more here is a link to the alloy artifacts page: http://alloy-artifacts.org/lectrolite-corp.html. Nice wrenches I have to dig out mine soon.

I just went to this site and got lots of info on my Lectrolite wrenches. I put it on my favorites. Thanks!

Mine are well used, so n.o.s would make them look bad. Interested in used ones if you have them.

Most sets were 1-1/4 but I believe they made sizes up to 2". I have a tub full of 200-300 extra sk wrenches I will look tonight for you.

I didn't know this thread existed, but no better place to post these.
I recently finished putting this 1/2" drive set back together. The bar and most of he sockets were in the box when I got it. Missing the t-bar handle for the breaker.

This box is in the works. Slowing getting filled back up from flea finds. Looks like 1/2" and 3/8" drive. I don't know 100% what was in it from the start.

And here is the lone SK-Lectrolite DOE that I own. That 25/32"... :dunno:

I have Lectrolite and Lectrolite Tru-Fit. I also have some S-K Wayne and plenty of S-K wrenches but these three are all of my S-K Lectrolite.
