Hello,

I usually use only rolls to pack my wrenches so here you have:

-Heyco R4008M (New)
-Padre 811CIK. (roll is custom made because I like padre wrenches but they dont offer any cloth roll, only plastic)
-Hans 16508M

:)

Are there good tool rolls for sockets? Dad's molded socket case has given out after 30 years of service and he loves the mobility it provided vs a tool chest (toss in a car, etc.).

We're coming to the conclusion that buying a whole new 200 piece set is cheaper than a case. (AAHHH!!), but these seem kinda sentimental to him.

Mine are all rolled up in a pile since I don't currently store much that way. I keep them because you never know when needs change. Right now, my Allen wrench sets and files are still in the roll. An extra craftsman metric wrench set is rolled up for a grab and go. This cornwell set came in a nice wrap when I bought it.

Divide out the sockets by drive size, inch/metric, and specials. Put each sort on a rail. Rail size determined by the length of the longest wrench or extension. Now plan out a roll with pockets to accept the various components. Take the result to a good upholstery shop that has heavy-duty sewing machines and have them make up a roll from heavy canvas.

I like tool rolls. There are pretty efficient storage and do not clank against each other when carrying tools in the car.

One deal I like on tool rolls is the Armstrong 56-628A tool roll for 15 wrenches. $6.50 + shipping from Cripe Distribution on Ebay.

Photo shown of 7-22mm Craftsman raised panel wrenches for reference.

So who makes good rolls for wrenches? I need a roll for the new SK X-Frames to toss in the truck. I really like the roll the Wright Grip wrenches I have came in, but hated the plastic pockets the regular long pattern SK wrenches came in even though the roll itself was denim. There has got to be a place that makes wrench rolls in varieties of sizes.

I had the same question months ago and I finally made a decision: I took some cloth, a photo and gave them to one local tailor. Total cost: 7€. For me was cheaper than bringing one empty roll from a company.

Here I know that Gedore offers a very good tool roll... But is a little bit expensive...

I like also the denim roll that wright uses, maybe you can call them and get as spare? I dont know.

:)

I keep this roll in my pickup. It has tools and some material like wire, zip ties ect. I tried to include things to fix common auto break down issues. I bought the roll at Menards, they don't keep them anymore. I like the roll and may order one for another vehicle.
