Somebody said that three of any one thing makes for “a collection”.
If that's true, I'm the lucky owner of a collection of brad drivers.
After spending the last several weeks sorting out my “collection”, I came up with no fewer than THREE brad drivers: a “Star”, an “Oxwall”, and one marked only “Made in U.S.A.” (which could possibly have been made by General, but there’s no point in trying to Google search “general driver”. (As an aside, searching for “Brad driver” will lead you to several sites where you can purchase Brad Pitt’s California drivers license.)

Noticing the similarity among various models, I wanted to take a look at other models. So far I’ve uncovered the following makers of “brad driver”:

1. Clay (Sheffield England)
2. Coastal (England)
3. Crown Tools (Sheffield UK)
4. Great Neck (China)
5. Great Neck (England)
6. Hyde (Southbridge MA)
7. "Made in USA" (possibly General?)
8. Master Mechanic (Taiwan)(True Value)
9. Oxwall (Flushing NY)
10. Robert Larson (source unknown)
11. Star brad driver
12. Unason Corp. (Unsinger & Son) (Fremont OH)
13. Witherby (England)

and thanks to Gerald at progress-is-fine:

14. "Spiralux" manufactured by Hollands and Blair, London

This of course begs the question of "What else is out there?"

To make this more interesting, and since it's directly related, let's see those TACK PULLERS too!

Very similar to the Oxwall in appearance (as most of these are) is the "STAR":

I grabbed this at an estate sale this morning specifically because of this thread. IMG_1108.jpeg

This has been hanging around the garage for a couple of weeks. The tips may be broken off as it seems too thick to do it’s job properly. IMG_1112.jpeg

I have an edge beveller like that. I bought it at Tandy Leather forty-five years ago. I'd remove that eyelet. It'll make it less comfortable to push on.

This one seems more likely to be a tack remover than the leather tool I posted above. No brand name but US made IMG_1197.jpeg
Is this Stanley device a brad driver? IMG_1195.jpeg

It certainly looks like it could be. IMG_1196.jpeg

Looks more like a nail set. Put the barrel over the protruding nail and hit with a hammer. I have three of different diameters as well as a matching pointed punch for centering screws in hinges.

Some of those are self centering punches for marking hinge drilling points. Without a point, unless it's broken or cut off , maybe not. The fixed end doesn't taper enough either, now that I've typed all this.

The three on the left in my pic are different sizes, not tapered, and have flat points which still have some remnants of plating on them so not broken or ground flat. The other one has a tapered point with plating also.

Those sound like mine. The nail set makes sense to me. 👍
