How big of a pain was it to keep the rolls all in plane? I built a gate for our church and rolled 20ft lengths of 1.75" square tube and they developed a corkscrew twist. It was such a headache!
Having seen your work, just buy a Swag roller. It's a game changer for keeping things flat!

Thanks for the kind words!

I really should, I just don't use it enough. Right now I have the HF roller and made my own Swag weld on plates. I definitely think I need to shim the rollers to keep them all inline with each other.

it's a harbor freight unit that I've modified with some SWAG offroad kit. If I rolled tube a whole lot, I would probably motorize the drive rollers, but I don't roll tube all that often.
I use a Milwaukee hole hawg for mine.

Commenting about corkscrew’s. As long as I take the time to dial in the thrust guides for square tubing it’s fine. But round and no helper, I’m prepped for the worlds largest wine bottle opener 😩

I went through all of that myself. I broke down and bought the Swag and gave the HF to someone I don’t like! No comparison

especially when working with full length tubes, it definitely helps to have a second set of hands/eyes doing this.

just dealing with the length of the material is difficult, I don't have a whole lot of space to work, so I ended up storing the tubes where ever I could until I was ready to start welding it all together. I usually get tubes cut in half from the steel shop (both because it's difficult working with them, and I've never really needed a single length longer than 10 or 12 feet long), this was the first time I worked with full length tubes. V1 rockets (and the inevitable evolution in rocket technology)could have changed the course of the war if it had gone on much longer.
If Werner had paid machinists instead of slave labor, the V2 would have been hitting NYC, and we'd be speaking German. As it was, he had to wait for NACA to pick him up post war to get what he needed.

Very nice! I can’t think of any reason for me to own one but I really want to build one anyway!
Thank you, I appreciate it.
My next one will be made out of just the tubing, just to see how it would burn compared to how this one burns.
If you were local I'd hook you up with some material. I have plenty of 4.5" DOM tubing drops.

I appreciate the offer. Where are you located, I’m in Southport NC.

Awhile back I needed to make some brackets for 3 big LVL beams that were sistered together to support a roof. The original plan was for a steel I-beam but I changed my mind and decided to go with the LVL's. Because of this, the height of the block work was a little off and I needed to compensate with the brackets. I don't have access to a shear that can cut 1/4" plate, so I had a local metal supplier cut all the pieces I needed to size. I didn't want to have any mistakes in the process so I made some mock-ups out of 1/4" foam core just to confirm the brackets fit the way I want and the sizes of the pieces I needed cut. When all is done the ceiling will be clad in a box rib sheet metal panels and the LVL beams will be clad in sheet metal and the brackets painted to match ceiling and beam (white).

Bourbon display shelf
Was asked to build this rack for a friend of a friend.
Part metal work part wood working.
Narrowed this lightweight pallet rack to 16" shelfs.
Built Two tiered shelfs, from 3/4 plywood lit from below with 4' led lights.
Rack has 5 shelfs and is 9' high by 10' long, that's a lot of bourbon !
Have a little more work to do on the adjustable feet, then done.
Looking forward to getting this thing out of the barn.

Last week my wife kicked me out to garage kind of demanding me to make her a necklace hanger. She was real tired of digging them out of her jewelry boxes or other boxes. I didn't have any material worth while using but I had a 50' box of ¼" 7018 that I bought years ago and never used. I knocked the flux off and cleaned the rods.
All I could think of making at the time were these stars. Next thing I knew I had an order for 10 of them. She likes hers and the others I have given them really like them too.
Not much of a welding project besides a few tacks but it wasn't a bad day project to kill some time.

Glad to hear it - Also I REALLY like your "armor plated" clearance lights; I have a list of several items to improve on my car trailer, including NOT leaving lights dangling out to get damaged... Steve
