I took advantage of the good weather this morning (above freezing) and made a little box to contain my new deep impact sockets that the wife bought me for Christmas. I cut up some 16 gauge sheet with the twin cutter that the F-i-L gave me, and tacked it together with my HH 140. I still need to add a hinge and a lid.

Took awhile to finish this one... Took lots of grinding with the wire cup to get the finish I wanted... my hands are still going numb from all the grinding...
Hard to see from the pics but with enough wire brushing it pits the metal and gives it a fun modern distress kind of look...

Well here is my second attempt at my plier/stuff holder. First one is going to a good friend. This one had a hick up when my 12" disk 6" belt sander didn't sound and feel good changing the pad, man has that turned into a project for a couple days of spare time  Glad the bearings on the net for $12. This Is a project I don't see finished for a long time (Not the Rockwell)

I'm putting this dash from a 69 Dodge truck into my 85 truck project and its about 5" too short. So I cut it in half and am adding material to widen it. All the openings and holes will be filled in and new ones made to place the gauges, switches and radio where I want them.

Here is the rotissorie I built.

Features include: (1) arbor locks with spring loaded pins where the pin handle holds the pin in the retracted position for one man operation; (2) hydraulic jacks for raising but hitch pins in double shear to ensure arbors are concentric; (3) bushed center of gravity adjuster to raise or lower body to adjust for balance (use deep well socket and impact gun on coupling nut); (4) caster wheels with brakes at all corners - I used an oil pan drain bolt to lock wheel at 90 degrees; (5) push handles on both ends.

A fun project that is getting its use now.

That thing looks great!

Thanks guys!!

My buddy is on the site, t.fletch something or other. He's only made a few posts. Him and I have been neighbours/friends basically since we got out of diapers (probably about a year and a half ago then! Jokes jokes!), and actually we have neighbours who are twins and awesome fabricators, but they bailed on him after promising to help him make a tube bumper (an ATV squashed his OEM bumper on a trail, long story), so I jumped in. My only condition was "you get just as dirty as I do." :shocking:

We just slapped a quick spraycan job on it because he's gonna sand it down and bedline it for durability. In about 6 months we'll take it back off, if you see the gap in the middle, and the way it's built, you'll see that it was built for a winch in mind, should basically be able to slap a plate between the two tubes for a winch mount - plus some gusseting all over (a point I firmly reinforced) for all that force.

From BC too!

Nice work!

Thanks man! Whereabouts in Victoria? I'm Surrey/Cloverdale, but I'm constantly back and forth from the island, I have a bunch of friends out there and a few who moved out there from Cloverhole. That, and I have an close friend/ex-gf out there that I'm pining for like a little school boy.

And here's my Jeep that I just swapped a Magnum 5.9L V8 into :D That was a lot of work..
Fenders and such are still work in progress. Gonna cut off the fronts, I made those before I had a tube bender, so they're all weld-in elbows hahaha

Got a new TIG welder during the week.

Got sick of setting the torch down and getting grinding dust and stuff on it, so reached into the box of broken Honda **** and dragged a piston and rod out.

Now i have a holder :D

Here is my welding cart that I made a few weeks ago. It has room on the second shelf for a plasma and a water cooler that I will be building.

I'm just about finished with my little project. I have some 14 ga that I have to weld in for lead storage and another piece of 3/4 tubing for the tank stabilizer.

I borrowed this idea from a project over on the miller forum

A project I did at the end of last week.

First time doing something like this:

3 rails total, all were built off site w/ just basic measurements of the steps given.

I was very happy with how they turned out, I am looking forward to seeing them after they're painted.

indeed, it was. It sure as hell was springy before adding those side pieces! I am planning on welding in some 14 along the bottom of the curvature so that I can slide my leads below the welder. I welded in a gusset and a nut in the corners of the bottom for the castors and cut off the excess stem. I also moved the rear axle forward to help move a little weight off the front end. It seems really stable and balanced.

Made this little safe/lock box out of some scrap 3/16 plate i had. 3 hinges, simple turn latch with lock cover made out of 4.5" pipe, coated with ospho and painted metallic silver. Measures approximately 11.5x11.5x8.5 just cuz that's how the plate came out. Can get more pics for anyone who would like. :)

Hahaha I saw the same cart on the miller site great work on both of them... The design reminds me of ZTFab thread on his welding cart he made for a friend.

That came out nice. I like how the outside texture came out.
I was thinking of making something similar just a out of thinner metal to turn into a powder coating oven.

Here are some shots of the rear 1/4 replacement on my 53 chevy. The patch panel didn't go up high enough so I had to add to the patch also.
It still needs a little more planishing and sanding to get to a nice metal finish like Roberts. That is what I am working for and it's not easy ,but can be done by someone without expert skills.
The welding and finishing is about 4 hours so far. Plus another hour to add the extra piece to the patch panel.
