What all are you planning on doing with it?

Maybe start a build thread on your next mini. Sounds like you got a steady stream of them.

Maybe I will start a build thread. I have about 5 more Mini's coming over the winter, 1 I am going to keep and turn into a permanent speedster (roof is already cut off). My wagon has been the test mule of various products I make or buy. I am putting a late 80's MR2 supercharger (SC12) on it this winter, as well as mega jolt lite jr, and some other goodies. As much as I want to go fuel injection it's not in the budget this go around, maybe next winter. So it will be a carb **** through setup.

I did see on another thread another guy had a Mini, I believe it was the engine rebuild thread. Funny thing is, I used to build mustangs for 10 years or so, met my wife (From Germany), and I got into Mini's through her and haven't looked back. I also have a wonderful Trabant as well.

My sons want new bed frames, so I suggested building them rather than buying. I figured it is a perfect project to start teaching my kids to work with steel. We flipped a coin and my youngest boy won the toss, so I put him to work. Kind of a multi material project, but here is the welding portion of it. We started on it Sunday night and had a deadline of Monday by 3 to have it at least useable because we had family spend the night Monday night after a Christmas get together. It was a little rushed, and I'm already making note of changes. It totally felt like one of those reality shows where we were minutes from the deadline.

I'm a crappy welder compared to a buddy of mine. However, I do come up w/ a cool idea now and then. :)

Father in-law got me a cool diamond plate mailbox for Christmas one year. We were standing in the garage and I said it was too nice to put on a wood post. I took some header collectors, **** welded them together and attached to a harmonic balancer.

Bolted the crank flange to a brake drum and that's my mailbox post. Been out there for 5-6 years now.

Very cool. I love seeing people getting their kids involved in fabricating :rocker:

And I'm sure you know this already, but watch out for those hoodie strings. They like to get a little too close sometimes.

Coincidentally, he took those strings completely out on his own accord literally minutes after that pic was taken because he mentioned how he hated them hanging in the way. And While you have a valid point, if he would have had his face that close to a running grinder, I'd have corrected that regardless of the strings.

Got that right! Awhile back I had layed in coolant earlier in the day while wearing my coat and threw a sweatshirt on while cleaning up an axle :eyecrazy: .....no shop sweatshirts have strings anymore....(my hair is usually pretty short)

Here is a rolling bench I am putting together. The main plan was to build something to organize my small parts (i.e. bolts, electrical connectors). I was going to build a stand a lone cabinet for this. Then I found a lista work station for $300 on ebay and it was only about 15 miles from me. Picked that up and it snow balled from there. The plan is for this to sit under and tuck into my main work bench. There is a 1/2" steel plate on stop instead of the butcher block that came with the work station. The butcher block was in bad shape and actually come off in two pieces when I unbolted it. I am going to save the pieces to make some industrial shelves or wood benches. I still have to put the final touches on the bench such as the door on the front. It is a piece of 1/8" aluminum and will hinge on the right side. I have some magnetic latches, a pull handle, and plan on having one of the Chicago Brush Masters do some pin striping on it to finish it off. I also am adding pull knobs as seen on the upper two parts boxes. Still have a couple to do but wont do that until I get it to my house.

Lazy day here at work and I am just about finished up with this thing!!!:beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer::beer:

Back side, to be covered in aluminum:

Front side, still needs door:

Another shot, just because:

Maybe someone can help me find something on this site: a couple of pictures were posted recently of a mount for an angle grinder stand for a bench vise. Pair of 1/4 hoops that run from side bolts on grinder to flat top at grinder face.
