I'm loving the recent posts of the metal art and the gate.

+1. I was beginning to think this thread had died. Hope it's not just temporary because Welding Web's been down all week!

Keep posting guys! I got a few of my own coming soon as I can get out there.

First project on my new welding table! Making some garden art for the wife. I saw the idea on here and I’m putting my own twist on it.

That is really cool but scares the hell out of me with all those points. If you bent down to get a closer look and didn't see one of the points before it was too late .... ouch!!

Can't be left behind in the flower-art category....

Made this for the girlfriend. Everything was scrap metal, and the only pieces I had to cut were the stems. Every piece was tumbled, welded, cleaned, and the assembly tumbled.

You are right it is pretty wicked. I was lucky not to poke an eye out building it. That's why its going outside and not in the house. My welding helmet and grinding shield saved me a few times

Cool design, but for me, too many chances for serious injury to someone, whether inside or out.

No welding here but last nite at my metal sculpture class I tried my hand at cutting a hot rod out with a plasma cutter. Used a straight edge & freehand both. The curves are not easy!

Thinking about making a plywood template that I can follow with the plasma.

They also have an english wheel. Thinking about a project using that, any ideas?

Thinking about making a plywood template that I can follow with the plasma.

Try hard board for your template. I made dozens of repeatable cuts using hardboard with the smooth side up. I countersunk and glued little magnets in the corners of the template and I could just drop it on, trace the lines and it was done.

Might even be worse than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!!

Can I ask what you are finishing them with? They look like they've got some sort of nice coating on them. Great job

Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

I wire wheel the 1/4" square before twisting and the horseshoe . A few I clear coat others leave as is. Some people have color preference.
I use a Dynabrade 1/2"x18" fine belt on the 1/4" edges . It shines nicely and accents it. To keep it clean looking I drill 3/8 hole at nail opening and plug welding on bottom. Top is clean and no weld exposure.

A "Kinda" Welding project...
Milled from a Half inch Aluminum Plate,
Plate was Clamped to the table as a "Fixture" then the Work was glued to it with CA (Superglue) allowed to cure overnight, Then a surfacing pass to flatten the front of the plate, then engraving the image, and a tool change to hack it out of the plate... unclamp the assembly then just heat the back side of the fixture plate until you hear it "Pop" and tap it with a hammer and the piece comes free, then you just wash the glue off with Acetone. Then of course it had a piece of Square tube welded to the back side for a hitch plug, polished up with the Burnisher, clear powder coated... Sorry no weld shots...

Really nice looking welds, what machine are you using for the tig welds? I've tried to get a puddle that big with my Syncrowave 250 and something is no-go. It could definitely be me but I'm hedging towards the machine can't put out enough amps...

@ kkroger: how did you generate the G-code for the super-bee? Is it a CAM processor or did you manually code it from a 2D wireframe. Just curious :)

Built a cart to repair hot tubs. Cart can support a tub full of water and be rolled around the shop by one guy.

This was from last year, but my biggest welding project ever, ramps are 6'x5' and 6'x7' to get Learn 2 Ride motorcycles into a storage container.

This is a really good idea. Consider it stolen!

I've been scratching my head for years over how to make a cheater jig to help keep screwdrivers on angle for sharpening. These are some photos of me "thinking out loud". I believe I'm finally onto something here. I'll keep you posted on how I get it all stuck together.

On another note. Anyone know when Welding Web's gonna be back up? I'm getting a little worried. It's been down for a while now!

Dumb question, why do you have to sharpen screwdrivers?
