That would be a Berkley pump. I need some parts for one, I will be looking as it was a pain to find the wear sleeve and the packing. If you found a good place for parts let me know.

Well, the old man shipped my Techics stereo system from the UK. 240v single phase. So I had to figure that one out.

Got her all tore down. I tore her down mostly to replace the seals that where leaking but found a few other problems that I also fixed a few bushing where bad

The transmission is out of my 1971 Sears Suburban. Engine was rebuilt in the spring, transmission got some new gaskets and spring on the top end as well as a paint refresher. The rest of the frame is in pieces now in various stages of resto.

I like the old garden tractors. You should be able to run that sears another 30 years after you restore it.

Here is my latest ebay project (projects) got a pretty good deal on all the stuff I drug home. Two 1998 Toro wheel horse 520LXI, one 60inch mower deck, one 44 inch 2 stage snowblower with chains and 2 wheel weights 4 suitcase weights, extra tire, snow cab, and some blower thing.

Here it is all loaded up on the way home


Both the tractors need work the transmission on both of them where leaking from all the seals and the guy had left the weights on the whole time he had it so the hubs got wobbled out on the axle shafts

But I figured it can't be that hard to fix. Here it is stripped down
I figured for about $175 ish I could get her back into sellable shape.



Going good so far



Just fired it up to text for leaks yesterday didn't see any yet so I am calling it good.



Next week I will prolly tear into the front half of the tractor I need to patch the muffler and clean it up but shouldn't be to bad.


If your not familiar with the Toro wheel horse 5xi series your missing out.
The made them with from 18-22 hp engines and one with a 23hp diesel . The one I am working on has the liquid colded kawasaki v-twin (the engine with the plastic cam issue till like 98?ish) has power steering, cruise control, lots of power, high-low range hydrostatic, very heavy duty weights in at like 1023 pounds dry weight with not attachments. I have 3 of them at the moment. They are very similar to the john deere 425.can't wait till spring so I can start mowing again. Here is a pic of my good one

Wish they still made real Wheel Horses. While I'm happy with my garden tractor, it would have been nice to have more then two choices for a real garden tractor. Pa was a Wheel Horse dealer for years and even after he dropped Wheel Horse for other brands, always said they were hands down the best little tractor.

I have not owned and old style wheel horse. I can't say enough good about the 5xi series though. The other models from the toro wheel horse I don't know much about though. Think the 5xi series cost like $9000.00 like 18 years ago

I'm just the opposite, I know the older Wheel Horse. All the nice Toro Wheel Horse garden tractors I remember seeing were of the classic Wheel Horse design of a horizontal shaft engine sitting sideways driving the ****** by belt. Never saw a shaft driven one. I bet those are impressive units.

The frame is .159 thick on the 5xi series, the transmission holds like 7 quarts of oil, it is pretty cool working on something that is quality the shafts for the linkages and what not have brass bushings with grease zerks, even on the engine under the oil filter there is like a funnel build into so you don't spill oil on the frame

Now I don't feel self-conscious posting pics of my workbench mess. Finally getting my 1972 Chevy truck back together, so it's time to get all the chrome bright bits sorted out and shined up. The front bumper doesn't quite fit on my bench.

It's great to see what everyone else is doing in their space and what is work-in-progress on their benches.

Just made mine last weekend out of huge piece of butcher block about 13' long. Made the braces out a 4x4 tube and powder coated myself. Still need to sand and treat. Thinking of routering a piece of 1/4" plate steel into the surface for hammering items so I don't booger the wood.

I have a couple of shops but this is my main farm shop. Mostly just getting the equipment ready for spring but I also am in the middle of a resto on an industrial stool, an old Sears belt sander, and a 1950 Okeefe and Merrit stove for the Mrs out of this shop. In the back of the shop I have a pen for my dog...she isn't like most dogs.

Customer supplied the bearings and packings etc... I was lucky enough to get the impeller off without destroying it so I could reuse that. I have no idea where they sourced their parts from...

This is a cool thread and I'm glad to see my shop isn't the only one that is messy. I have two small benches built from 2x4s and scrap plywood. This one is used for reloading and looks pretty messy here.

I got tired of all the clutter so bought some metal stands for my reloading presses which I put together last weekend. I also added an outlet under the panel with a power strip for the LED lights so i can see what I'm doing. I am currently installing shelves on the wall to hold all my reloading dies, bullet molds etc.

My other bench is also used for reloading as well as various crafts and other projects with the kids. I also have two more workbenches on that side of the wall but I have to pull my truck out to make room. I really miss my old garage sometimes..
