damn, 8 of them? BTW, if you spot one at the flea market, what's "fair price" on those? I saw one guy had one for $20, another for $50 the other day.

I paid $5-25 for each of those, most included tools, some are missing the trays.

Y'all post up, tools or boxes. I know bluebolt has some Crown Tops, who else in here?

ok... im dumb. what does crown top have to do with old craftsman stuff?

I carry a tool box like nine4gmc posted in my car for on the side of the road repairs. It was my grandfathers tool box. I recently aquired a second one from my family. I'll never get rid of either one.... too much sentimental value.

the crown top logo was used by craftsman around the 60's, some one else can say the start and finish dates.

Pic 1: The Craftsman Commercial orange label sander and sabre saw and a hole cutter.

Pic 2: Some circular saws I picked up (at least one was free and non working) and a nice sander Red Leader gave me.

Pic 3: Some of my motors, top left is a nice 3/4 HP ball bearing motor, top right is a NOS 1/2hp one that still has the plastic protective sleeves on the shafts, middle left is a spare and the bottom one is a reversible 500-5000 variable speed one that works great on a drill press.

Pic 4: Air hammer, the hammer itself has a crown logo on it.

Pic 5: Propane torch kit, the lighter and the torch valve have the crown logo on them too.

Pic 6: Another dado set in a nice wood box

Pic 7: Sprinklers!

Man I had no idea this stuff was collectible. The amount of crown top gear I've sold just in the last 2 months is unbelievable.

You guys are a bad influence. After reading the op, I looked in my stash and came up with one, no tray, rusty, needing dents in front removed. Found it years ago at a dumpster. I have given thought to putting my set of double line v sockets and ratchets in a Craftsman box, maybe giving it to daughter and SIL. Looked in one pawn shop today, found a box with tray like the first one shown by op, top and sides were at the stage where you ask do I refinish or wax to preserve, bottom very rusty on outside. Marked in magic marker(a turn off) $12. Guy wouldn't go lower that $10, so I passed. Got one at another pawn shop, with tray, rust all over but no deep pits, $1.00.
What color is that metallic gray Craftsman uses? Some official name or paint number?

edit. Ebay has several. One for $17.99 plus 12.99 shipping is in about the same condition as mine, but they tray on it looks squirrly. A nice looking one has a $49 asking price. The ones I looked at didn't have any bids on them. Listed under Craftsman tool boxes. Didn't see any as nice as some of the posters on here.

Just a few items here. I remembered having a set of Allen wrenches in a yellow crown top bag, but must have foolishly gotten rid of them at some point :(

Went to a small town flea market yesterday where they close off several streets and the booths are in the street parking spaces. Was going through a building full of stuff, heading out the door when I saw something goldish buried in the corner. A closer look revealed a Power Bronze Craftsman Crown lablel 6"x48" belt/9" disc sander on a stand, an item I have been having a hard time locating. Asking price? $100 and it is supposed to work. We dig it out, plug it in and hit the switch. NOTHING! Fiddle with it some more, try again. Nothing still. We know we have power to the plug so I ask what price as is? $25! SOLD! It even has the original belt which is the old style underlined Craftsman logo.

Alos pictured is a Crown label wood rasp I found today while cleaning up the garage.
