I was poking around Internet Archives today and spotted that box in an undated flyer. Mine was like new when I found it plus it matched my car.

"I'm bad, I'm Nationwide"
The subject of these 3/8d set boxes came up a while back either here or on the Heritage thread. I'm throwing this in here due to the embossed logo on the box which falls at the end of Heritage/beginning of Crown.

I got this box today as part of a 2fer along with a Heritage 65xx box. Looking at it, I assumed it was for a 1/2d set based on the size of the socket tray. Got it home and started putting tools in it, found the 1/2d spinner wouldn't fit. Checked the catalog for box measurements and found the 1/2d set came in a 19.5" long box while the 3/8d set came in a 17.5 box (this one). So 3/8d it is. I've had this rat for a while now and assumed it was a "Long Lever" but going back and reviewing GW's video, I'm pretty sure this is the 67-69 "Intermediate". It's in pristine condition and will live here out of place until I can find a Long Lever as depicted in the 57 catalog clip.
Nice! Good luck on finding the long lever!

Is the blue color on this box a "thing"?? As in unusual, to slightly rare? I need another hand carry toolbox about as much as......well......I'm sure you all can relate. FYI - It bears a red socket tray inside.

OOB: Taking a speed journey through the 70s catalogs, I don't see any blue boxes. They're listed as "baked on gray enamel". I think only you can judge if that's factory or not with a close inspection. I wouldn't be too surprised to find that it is factory. Sears had a long standing tradition of wheeling out oddities at Christmas. The blue is reminiscent of both the earlier Long C boxes and a line they put out later (90s maybe?) of blue chests and rollers. If it's not factory at least it had a talented spray bomber!

I got ahold of another picture of the box, and am willing to declare it a deft respray. on that basis, I passed on the listing. I have too many already.

After reading some conversations about utility knives, and Craftsman knives having unique blades, I opened mine up and took a look inside. Sure enough, blades with four notches. I pulled it out of the random box cutter drawer and put it into the Crown items toolbox.

For all the "rust bucket" Crowntop carry boxes I'm currently tripping over, as it seems to be a popular vehicle for "Tool box w/miscellaneous tools - $10" Ads on Facebook or Craigslist, I was genuinely and presently surprised by the terrific condition of this 2 drawer carry box that still fit the Ad parameter. Stamped 65334 on top under the handle. Is that a date code? 1965?

It's the model number of the box OOB. I have the same one (although nowhere close to that great of condition). Nice snag.

I vividly recall my Dad having one of those Crown tap and die sets. I used one of the taps as a punch while working on a lawn mower. It did not go over well BUT I did learn the value of taking care of tools!

I got this hardware chart delivered off the bay! I paid $25 shipped which is good considering it is already framed!

I have implemented the swap of one of my wife’s decorations with the wall chart. We shall see how long it takes to be discovered. I hung it up right after she went to bed [emoji23]

Double A Products Co. (Double A is short for Ann Arbor) was founded in 1934 by Herbert H. Upton and Finley Riggs in Ann Arbor Michigan. They made a variety of small wood and metal working machines, for five & dime stores and Sears. The company moved to a better facility around July 1, 1940. During World War II, Double A produced gun parts for the Government. In 1957, as Double A Products Co., they became a division of Brown & Sharpe Manufacturing Co., best known for their machinist's tools. Double A Products has also been referred to as Double A Engineering.

Double A Products was an early maker of Companion, Dunlap and Craftsman machines for Sears, Roebuck & Co., under model number prefix 109.

I've got these. Model 9-3559 hacksaw, a vacuum base vise, model 315.27892 circular saw, model 315.27782 circular saw. I have one more tool that I wasn't able to upload. One question on the circular saws they say industrial rated does that mean they are craftsman commercial?

I used this torch the other day and thought I'd snap a picture for this thread. Works well.
