I use one of these:
It's a Starlight 292 Trainman's lantern. It was free, I can position it to illuminate in just about any situation, and the battery lasts for hours. It has a spotlight and a "walking light" setting that works good for lighting up an area. It's rechargeable, and when the battery wears out, I can replace it for free.

I have 3 streamlights, 2 are stingers one with a LED terralux conversion and the other regular. The 3rd is a stinger HP with the big head. I also have a monster underhood light.

That hp is a killer flash light, have you looked at the strion? I've been so tempted to get one so bad, especially in green.

ill get pictures. but i own three i think streamlight pros, two streamlight penlights, a flex version. i just added a new trouble light i got at fastenal that runs on the same batteries as my streamlight pros. it even has uv light, gotta be careful not to leave it on and kill the battery.
otherwise i had two or three snap on lights i got at ace(one was free as i scavanaged from returns) i upgraded them to led lights.
a couple mag lights laying around. i think there are more. but yah i have enough.
my favorite is my streamlight pro that i carry everyday though, i don't leave home without one, soo darn handy.

I use a halogen model. They have them in LED, but I never switched. They issued me one when they were field testing the LED's, but I wasn't crazy about them. For whatever reason, I had a hard time reading the numbers on cars with the LED's when the cars are wet

I have the Ingersoll Rand L5110. I LOVE using it when I'm working in the engine bay. Most other worklights use big and bulky hangers, but the IR has a hook that works well in almost any application. With the 3.0AH battery, I've ran it continuously for 15 hours without issues. It's brighter and more compact than some of my other work-lights, plus it works great as a desk lamp. I love how much I can tilt the head.

After getting the stinger c4, i will only stick with one.

In my pocket, EDC, is a Sipik SK58 clone, $7 shipped off ebay from China. Runs on a single AA size, and can use a Lithium Ion battery with some increase in light.
On a shelf I have an UltraOK XML T6, one of those fancy $13 shipped lights, 2x AA and its a bright light, but too big for EDC, great for lighting up the back yard at night etc.
I have a 3x AAA $7 headlight, three modes, high, med, and low level red for walking around a camp ground etc at night and not disturbing anybody or losing night vision. Extremely handy for working on stuff as both hands are free and it points where you look. Someday I may buy a better one, but not yet, it does the job.
More than a dozen free HF LEDs, plus two of the puck looking things which are great for $3 on sale, hook or magnet, throws a lot of light, and gets used all the time.
Small 1x AAA or AA, 1/2 a penlight sized, sometimes I want a small light.
Borg light, not its real name, but its a common style LED that clips over an ear like a one ear headset with a little stalk pointing forward with a smaller LED. 1x AAA and very handy for a walk around without disturbing others type light.

just googled some of them and the prices are pretty steep for these little guys.. where is a cheap place to order.. not sure if i want to spend 135 bucks on a surefire when i payed 20 for my maglite and a free maglight mini

Comparing one to the other is like saying an mx-5 should be the same price as a ferrari. I stopped using Surefire as the batteries are scarce enough over here and expensive when you do find them. Switched to LED Lenser and theyre awesome too. Not as good as the Surefire but close enough to make it not worth looking for the batteries.

Mine. First three from the top are all Led Lenser, top one is my official issue light, a V2, then my 2 favourites a P14 and a P7. Bottom is a head torch made by a company called exposure for night-time mtb'ing on trails, ridiculous amount of light out of it but a very hefty price tag at the equivalent of $240!

When I got the HP I thought it was pretty good(I think 15,000 candlepower) but the new LED stuff is way brighter. The newest Terralux conversion is so bright the reflection off whatever I look at bothers my eyes.
I had a strion but it got ripped off when one of my cars was stolen (it was inside the car)
Still have the quick charger for it though! lol
Loved that little light. Mama got me a Bianchi holster for it and it was on my side at work all the time.

I used to use old mini mags w/ standard bulbs, but got an XL50 about a year ago. LOVE it. I was ready to write Maglite off after buying a couple of their first LED lights that were absolute garbage, but this is one of the best products they've ever produced.

Nice lights guys.Any one with the sure fire or lenslight ever compare it with a stream lights?they look way cool I might get one.are they rechargeable like stream lights.as for mag lights, they can't compare. As a kid my dad would give me his used ones and all through high school and tech school that's all I used,but once I got my hands on a led stinger it has never been the same mags are like using a candle now.

For a first cheap light I would get Sipik SK58 clone, $7 to $10 from dozens of sources, 1x AA with a zoom, then use it for a time and decide how many $$$ better you want.
Most of the lower cost lights with a lot of lumens do it by using lithium ion batteries, but those need special chargers and most recommend only using top quality protected cells (so they don't overheat when discharged below some level and catch on fire).
Once you know what you want, its just a matter of quality and paying for it.

My daily flashlight is my Fenix TK11, tough as nails. It's great for looking for stuff above drop ceilings or a dark mech. room. I may get the Fenix PD20, about the same light but shorter in length.

On my 3rd Streamlight Stylus Pro. Keep loosing them. Nice light, but on a recent job the customer was an LED geek and turned me into one. Don't think I'll have any more streamlights.
Ordered a Zebralight H600w headlight (700 lumens). Runs on 18650 Batteries
and a Nitecore EC1 (280 lumens) for EDC. Runs on CR123s
These lights both fit the bill for what I was looking for. For EDC i wanted short, the Nitecore is 2.5" long. The AA version was longer and only put out 180 lumens. I wont be using that light for extended periods often so using CR123s wasn't an issue for me.
