I assembled a parts list for eagle gas cans to build spouts since the old design has been discontinued over 15 years

Just got 2 pretty cool cans today in CL deal for ceramic tile. Square 1 gallon old school steel gas can, and a nice 5 gal gray steel (no brand name).

CL seller threw in the 1 gal for $25 worth of tile I bought. And the 5 gal can was $2 !!

Hi,

I am sure that many of us have one or many of the older Weedco or similar plastic gas cans purchased before the damn law that makes the now-available spouts awful. And I am sure that many of our original full-flow spouts have failed in some way.

Has anybody found a source for the "old" style spouts and collars that will fit our older cans?

White gas "fueling station".

It's an old (but internally spotless) 3 gallon outboard motor tank. I added a Schrader valve on the outlet block so I can add just a titch of pressure, and I have a spigot valve on the end of the fuel line that just fits the Coleman fuel fill port. A small air pump and all it takes is a couple of pumps and it runs.

I picked up a really tiny pressure pump in the past year or so that is even smaller., (originally used for pressurizing shocks.)

Its the red boxy one in the back ground... ;)

ps: I just noticed my son is using the older larger pump on the water tank. (yes I have running water when I camp; even hot showers as long as you bring enough extra water

I have a ton of older cans, I seek them out as I HATE the new ventless junk. I must have about 5-8 of those small 2 gallon type blitz cans that used the stupid spouts, 3 older eagle type round metal cans (the domed kind) with just caps no spouts and a few of the scepter 2-3 gallon cans with stupid push tab spouts. I also have a 2 gallon with the old yellow spout that has a poptab on it.

Been wanting those replacement spouts but they are SPENDY (about 12-18 per)

Bought two of those myself, same size as you. So far I love them.

Had to buy the extension hose so I could put fuel in my jeeps.

I just use mine for small yard equiptment. My brother has a 5 gallon one he uses for his tractor. He said it was so slow to empty and gave their C/S a call. They had him drill a hole in the center of the push button. It flows so quick now. "Voids warranty though" lol

take it from me, once you have ever used a modern steel safety can such as a Justrite or Eagle, and their refrigeration seal closure, you will be done with smelly plastic cans forever that stink up your car or truck! - I do not miss the smell of gas when I go to get 5 gallons of fuel and bring it home!

Also - all of the steel safety cans have the old style venting, so you can pour very fast and spillproof - none of that ventless **** among safety cans!

I bought the 2.5 gallon No Spill can for my dad as a Christmas gift. He wanted a can that will keep him from overfilling the push mower and snow blower.

There is a "No Spill Jill" video on youtube. I hope it works as well for my dad.

Rural King had the cans for $19.99 which seemed like a good price while I was comparing.

There is only ONE plastic can out there that doesn't reek of gasoline, the real military plastic fuel can, (MFC) jerry can made by Sceptre of Canada for our armed forces, due to it's refrigeration seal (though it is much more work to open and close than a safety can)

No links on hf

But I've bought two in the stores.

They may be Midwest. I recall doing a double take. It had made in USA on it.

I have 5 of those left, I did have 10 but figured wtf do I need more than 25 gallons in cans for?

BE aware that buying them new isnt easy in the US and finding the spouts for them is equally hard now due to the no leak can bs laws. ALSO if you buy them used at say a surplus store BEWARE the seal on the cap is likely for diesel fuel and not gas! You need to buy gaskets for gas, otherwise the seal will swell and ruin the can/cap.

A similar design was popular about 20 years or so ago. Two versions: One was just the tank, another was a smaller tank and a small tool box under it. I have one of the latter I picked up at an estate sale a couple of years ago. Yet to determine what to use it for...

Ive honestly never seen such things. I guess with the advent of plastic, no one wanted metal cans anymore.
