So is HF going to look off the Quinn brand? It seams silly to have 4 tiers of tools. More so since Quinn and PPro seem all but identical. The Icon stuff does seem to be as nice as the breast big box brands. It's priced as such as well.

I see it as a good thing when I start seeing modification videos and posts. People are starting to play with the tools and making them work better for them. I don't really like that he destroyed the Craftsman screwdriver, but maybe the Torx tip was broken off...

I bet camarotoolman would have a field day on eBay with that modification. “Rare craftsman professional ratchets, brand new, only $150”

Coming from a Snap-on, Matco, Cornwell guy, I think these tools look like something I am going to look into. My guess is they are going to be pretty damn good and the cost is a HUGE plus

In real like the quality and function of my new icon tools. Better than some.

I bought a 1/4" flex head soft grip, 1/2" flex head, 3/8" stubby and 3/8" standard length Icon ratchets new in sealed boxes for $80.00 didn't really need them but that doesn't seem to matter to me just to good of a deal to pass up. I would like a set of those metric ratchet wrenches could use the extra length.

So far I’ve been very happy with the Icon sockets and wrenches, I been using at work for the last 2 months or so. They have worked fine and still look like new. I also have a couple of the ratchets at the home shop, that have worked perfectly.

I did my Christmas shopping for the grandsons and my SIL and a few others, they are all getting the Icon 3/8” drive deep sockets, SAE and metric, the 1/2 price coupon, made the choice easy, so 8 sets and all of my male part of the Christmas shopping is done.

I purchased a short 1/4" drive ratchet this past weekend and I have used it once and it seems to be a very good ratchet. Smooth action and very comparable to most higher end Taiwanese produced tools. What I found that I really like about it is the shape of the handle is well designed. My hand fits very well to the contour and the concave area near the head feels natural to my hand. I suspect I will be buying more ICON tools in the future

I bought the SAE set of ratcheting wrenches with the 20% off coupon, $102.** out the door. the limited amount of times I've used them so far, they seem pretty nice for the price. the beams are comfortable and are just about identical to my SK made craftsman pro wrenches.

Any updates on how their chrome sockets are holding up? The initial reports were pretty bad.

Disclaimer: I'm not trying to stir the pot here. I'm genuinely interested in whether these are borderline defective/recall worthy. All of my sockets are SK, Williams (USA) and Proto. I don't have 1/2" deep metric sockets and for how little they'd be used (probably once a month) and how much SK sockets (rightfully) command, I'm entertaining the idea of Icon or GearWrench, the former because HF stores are everywhere.

I too am interested in the durability of the Icon line of tools. I'm surprised that they are not pushed harder in store. I know that there is a lot of hype on the internet but not much actual working reviews.

The chrome is fine. That was misinformation spreading around. Also if anyone wants to try some icon tools I have a bunch including all the sockets and ratcheting metric wrenches with anti slip in my for sale thread I just made. All new!

You think like it I do! Post up a pic of your creation in the Chopped thread if you ever get around to it.
I, too, have an NOS Torx professional handle that I'm not using - just waiting for the right rehandle project to come along.

I bought the 3/8 deep sae and metric, they are soft but totally worth the $20 ea price for the home toolbox.

Thanks for that info. I'll pass on them and go with GearWrench. HF seemed to miss their demographic mark with this line. This is where USA CMan would've been the answer.

My sockets are holding up decently. Definitely on the softer side though. I have been using them on my cordless snapon impact. (Yeah I know blah blah blah get the right tool) using them professionally for the price I am very impressed. I like them more than the gearwrench sockets.

17mm is probably my most used socket at work. Heres a 2 week icon vs my 12 year old snapon. I use them both the same way.

Is it just me or did the ratchet tear down pic in the first post of this thread look like the pawl was burned or not heat treated evenly? Trying to decide if it’s lighting or if it really looks looked that
