Kraeuter is a maker that is dear to my heart, but you don't hear much about them in the main stream. Sooooo Lets talk about Kraeuter. Please share info, pics, stories that you may have regarding anything with the Kraeuter name on it.

IIRC they made, and were associated with SK as a economy line later on

Older semi beat up #36 Slip Joint Pliers:

Snap Ring Pliers, I actually have had these for years and use them frequently.

Older K Diamond wrench, would think it's from the 20's.

I have more in my growing mountain of tools to polish up, plus I've sold a bunch on the bay, and think I may have a few listed right now.

My only kraeuter tool a 9/16 3/8 drive shallow socket that appears to have been used on a impact gun it's entire life but still holding strong with most of the chrome still attached despite having grind and hammer marks.

Not mine any more, but I found this at a flea market last year:

The ratchet has an SK mechanism in a simpler-to-make (i.e. cheaper) handle: I-beam shape, no knurling.

I have a few bits and pieces left from a set of Kraeuter tools, that I still use daily. I got them as a gift for graduation from HS in 1973. Most of the set was handed down to my son when he went off to school to use on his motorcycle a year or two ago.

They have worked as well, or better than some craftsman of the same vintage. IIRC they were purchased at W. Bell, not at a hardware store or sears.

Thanks for the reminder to pause and enjoy my 40 year old tools.

I have heard good things about Kraeuter pliers. But my contribution here is a set of wrenches I sold on eBay for around $10 I think . . . almost 2 years ago.

OK, here are most of mine. I have 2 more pairs of dykes and a pair of battery pliers but the 12 pictured are what I could easily round up.

4 pair of Linemans, I’m pretty sure they are lined up in age order. Note the difference in the grip checkering.

1801 – 8-1/2 coarse checkering, 1801 -6 no checkering - Maybe they lost some factory plastic grips? :dunno: Un-marked (fine checkering with a diamond in the middle) , 1821 – 6 plastic grips – these alst two have the heavy wire cutter notches on the outside, and arched “Slip joint” style grips.

3 pairs of Duck bills; 1601 – 6 coarse and fine checkering, and 1741 – 6 smooth again missing the grips?

2 pairs of dykes, fine checkering (snapped of grip tip), and probably my most modern pair, flush cut with plastic grips and a return spring to keep them open; and one pair of nippers 3850-7 plastic grips.

Finally (Until I round up the other 3 pair) 2 needle nose without any cutters, 835 and 1671 – 6; matching plastic grips.

I love Kraeuter tools. I ****** them up whenever & wherever I find them. I have a decent collection of their ratchets, sockets & pliers. I also have a few chisels. Here are several pictures of my sets...

30122 22 piece 1/4" drive socket set. It's missing a few pieces. Note the Snap-On fillers/extras.
kraeuter1.jpg

30212 12 piece 3/8" drive socket set. Missing the 3" extension (note the Thorsen filler). One of the sockets is the newer style without the band/knurling.
kraeuter3.jpg

30260 20 piece 3/8" drive socket set. Missing the 3" extension again. There are a few extra pieces thrown in.
kraeuter2.jpg

And last but not least, a 5 piece set of mini pliers. I just got these last week. They are awesome!
kraeuter4.jpg

I'll snap some pictures of my other goodies if there is enough interest.

I have several pairs of NOS pliers that came in boxes labelled "SK Wayne". The boxes also state a former Kraeuter model number.

I swear I have more around, but this is all I could quickly dig up.

NOS 30008 8 piece 1/4" drive thumbwheel ratchet set. Came with both old & new style sockets.

Various pliers & nippers.
2.jpg

Slip-joint pliers. I seem to have misplaced the pivot bolt for the last pair...

I bought that same 1/4 drive set with the long and short sockets more than 30 years ago, brand new, at a swap meet for $10.00. Been using it ever since, one of my favorite ratchets, very smooth fine tooth action. I've broke a couple of the sockets, just replaced them with another quality brand, I'm not **** about that kind of stuff. One possible down side, some of the sockets have a nasty ridge of flash on the inside where the broach stopped, which can be a pain if trying to fit over the end of a bleeder screw say.

Great stuff all.

These were in a box of tools I bought at a garage sale this past weekend. "Kraeuter Industrial" :dunno: Very smooth and tight after de-rusting and oil.

Kraeuter Industrial 4501-5 and 4501-4 1/2 diag. cutters.

The 4 1/2 is on its way to jeffmoss26. :)

I come across Kraeuter pliers/cutters all the time at garage sales and fleas.

Usually rusty krusty and in the bottom of the box just like these two were. No love.

A dip in evaporust or vinegar and like new.

Never realized thay made half of what they did that is listed in this thred.
Thanks.

Does anybody know the difference between the 'Supreme' & 'Industrial' marked tools? Perhaps the Supremes were high-end consumer offerings otherwise equal to the Industrials? I'm guessing 'Hy-Power' was their marketing term for high leverage?

Bought this bike and under the seat was a modified wrench. It fits the rear axle nut perfectly!
