Miller's Falls no. 18 clamp-on swivel base vise, in original box, looks unused.

Thanks! These little vises are fun to collect. And use, I have a similar 2.5" Stanley clamped and screwed to my coffee table.
The box is deceptively large, 8.5" × 5.5" × 3.5"

Very nice.

How about 3/8 and 1/4 ratchets.

My MF No. 440 speed indicator and swivel clamp on vise are both from garage sales. The indicator, in its original box appears to be unused.

I'm sorry I don't have the confusser skills to post photos.
Millers Fall were the leaders in hand drills and near the top in braces. They were late to the party with planes, so theirs tended to be a step up from the Stanley. Highly worthwhile and less expensive than tools marked with Stanley.

Although they were not as attractive as their predecessors, Millers Falls also made drills that didn't require hand cranking.

Here are my Millers Falls users.

When Millers Fall were bought, I think it was Ingersoll Rand, it was for their power tool division.

I picked this MF key hole saw today. Not a Buck Rogers, but still has that Spaceman Spiff look to it.4e322319711d0bfcc740219f64dd5141.jpg551c36aad8db8dade67ac00ae6181a7e.jpg

I cleaned the rust and goo off some nail sets, and found a few were MF. One advertises a specific alloy. Now I’m curious about the chronology of knurl styles...

Picked this push drill today. The bits with it included three marked “Yankee,” so they’re not original, but I don’t know about the unmarked ones.
The tiny bits in the red vinyl pouch were in the box, but don’t go with it.

Finally, my prized piece:

Push Drill No.2 (Graves--later) 1894-1898
Millers Falls6.jpg Millers Falls6A.jpg

This feels so comfortable in the hand and has five of the eight flute-shanked drill points.
Well that's all for now, but I'm always on the lookout for more Millers Falls hand tools.

UPDATE:
Research has shown that this tool handle is not a Miller Falls tool. Rather, it was patented by G.W. Wright of the Sargent Tool Co. in New Haven, CT. less than 10 miles from my home town of Milford and is older and considered harder to find than the Miller Falls model. Cool.

See that. There IS more than **** on the internet!

It's an early multitool of sorts. I'll try to find a picture in my whites hardware dealer catalog. They came with a small hammer head, crosscut saw blade, driver's, awls, prybars, you name it.

Here’s a no1 hurdy-gurdy/eggbeater I acquired today. Totally seized with rust, but the rosewood handle/cap is just fine. It even has a broken drill bit in the chuck.
I may punch out the retaining pin to work on the metal and wood parts separately. May not be necessary.

Here's my collection so far...

1218 Inside Micrometer
Millers Falls1.jpg MF Inside Micrometer1.jpgMillers Falls1A.jpg

Old radar, I have that same inside micrometer set, except mine is a Goodell-Pratt. Same case, different lettering. One of the tools M-F got from G-P. I took it in to work and had the boys in the gage lab check it.

My mind was blown how accurate it was. The micrometer itself was dead nuts thru the entire range, and less than half of the extensions needed minor adjustments. I've seen much newer inside mics in the same condition from good name brands be much further out. Since the initial calibration, it's still accurate (I don't use it much but I keep it calibrated because I know it's good).

Some of these old tools can't be beat.

Just be careful with that pin. I found out too late on a GP drill that it was tapered and offset due to being drilled after assembly. When you do get the wood off just throw the whole kit-n-kabootle in some evaporust or vinegar depending on how much you want to clean up afterward and it should free things up nicely. I like to scrape the wood before sanding with the side of a chisel just to make things a little quicker and finish up with BLO.

I have one that's very similar. I posted it in the garage sale thread back in May: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=7882334&postcount=2881 Mine has no name markings on it.

Here is a Miller Falls 2" vise I repaired. It has 2" cast in jaws that I removed and added replaceable ones. I have worked on many vises this is the first one that machined like Nodular Iron. The 6:32 tapped holes for the jaws were a killer to tap. The pad on the Static is a hardened cast insert too. I am very impressed with the quality of this tool.

I found this 6” rule a while back, but the other two I found at an estate sale yesterday. Upon closer examination the little vise grip type pliers are discreetly stamped Japan.

Adding to the MF Collection. I got the No. 43 coping saw and the No. 98 T-Bevel as part of a 5-gallon Bucket Boss Tool Bag/Seat that I picked up for $6.
