Got my load of Estwing hammers today. Left to right: nail puller, engineer's hammer, drilling hammer, welding hammer, splitting wedge, hatchet.

Just look at all that made in the USA goodness! Except for the nail puller. Didn't see that one coming...

made in Japan.jpg

Also got metric and SAE hex socket sets on the cheap.

nice hammer set, really like the estwing hammers. The japanese nail puller is a surprise, but they make high quality tools.

The titan sockets are rebraded all trade tools like the power built. Nice quality taiwan tool.

What I REALLY wanted (and ordered) was the English pattern claw hammer. Only one place selling it that I've found it in the country. When the box arrived today I was disappointed to see they did not ship it - and in fact cancelled that hammer from my order due to not having stock. Grrr. No email, no warning, nothing.

Anyone know where to find the Estwing English pattern hammer in the USA?

I love Estwing stuff, but watch out, a lot of their lower tier stuff is being made in Taiwan. You lucked out and got a Japanese one (From Dogyu, google it if you don't believe me), most of the ones at my local HD are Taiwanese. Bleh.

Fancy,
Do not despair on that Japanese tool. I have one and while I use the hell out of it, it shows no wear at all. Japanese tools are way way way under rated as far as I'm concerned. I have a Japanese made wood chisel (1/8th inch), that is wicked sharp, holds an edge, and beats out any of my USA and English made wood chisels. Japanese tools, after WWII, had the reputation that Chinese tools have today. Realizing that their tools didn't quite measure up, they worked tirelessly to improve them -- both hand and powered. Now they knock lots of others out of the ballpark. Wish I could buy more here in USA.
Cheers,
JimDon

That pick set looks awesome. I'd like to have one of those. So the trim tools were "free" or is there a kicker for those to?

I gotta go find a SnapOn truck to climb on I guess.

Got the rest of my Enco order today. Transfer punch set, measuring stuff, center drill set and best of all a Kalamazoo belt sander. The sander (and motor) is made in USA. All at 20% off.

I have the same k-zoo sander in the shop at school and it regularly shocks people :shocking: , you might want to consider running another ground wire directly to the motor frame

Yeap, 6pc radiator pick set and get the trim tools. I got the 6pc pick set last year in the $99 deals so wasn't quite as interested.

My stash from the week. Finally got the 4pc plier set (orange). Then saw he had the orange pry bar set. So I traded in a Red set that I had that was un opened. Now I can match my screwdrives and ratchets. Don't think many people like orange on his route.

Have to replace the front crankshaft seal on my truck so I got the engine barring tool as well even though I could find it cheaper somewhere else I was in a pinch for one to do it this weekend and his son had one on his truck. Can't say enough for my SO guys.

Went to Northern to get the 36mm to be sacrificed into a fan clutch wrench (figured $10 and some effort would be better than $120 for a set that will hardly get used) and they had a buy a bucket for 2.99 get everything inside it 15% off. So got those 414 pliers for $15 since they were on clearance as well. With quite a few other channel lock ones. Most about $5 off it seemed.

no.. pretty much anything that's not Chinese and Indian..

Taiwan and even Thailand make decent stuff, as does Singapore (though not as much these days).

Local guy does a 'tool sale' at a local church with Snap On, Mac, Matco, CMAN, Gearwrench, and other odds and ends. He usually deals on price and it's cash and carry.

All this for $50....

Snap On Slip Joint Pliers 47ACP
Snap On 3/8" Deep socket 10mm SFSM10
Snap On (old scrpit) FX6 3/8" 6" extension
Wiss 20 ga. Multi Purpose snips
Craftsman Professional Long Pattern wrenches 10mm, 12mm-18mm

How'd I do? :dunno:

You did a bit better than retail. From what I know, SO slip-joints are around $30 new anyways, and Cman pro wrenches sell individually for around 10 or so. I had the fun time of buying 13/16, 7/8, 15/16, and 1" individually at 16, 17, 18, and 19$ or something like that. They're expensive but i'll never need to buy another wrench of that size either.

So you did good :)

joe.g, I too find the C'man Pro screwdriver close outs a funny but very lucrative deal.

Hit or miss from store to store, but it;s great to stock up in P3, P4 and stubby torx drivers from T10 to T40 for $2.49 ea. or less when the online price is $10 to $12 ea.

I still don't get it , but my wallet and toolbox does indeed appriciate it.
