Klein...

D2000-48-SEN dykes
J203-8N-SEN long nose
J2000-9NE-SEN linemans

I was going to get the "base" model ones but I put on my biggest "go big or go home" hat and just bought the things. Should be using them for years, hopefully. I got rid of a ton of my German tools and I needed a replacement so here we are, now almost all of my tools are US made. And these things better be good

How much did that set run you? And why do they seem so thin?

Width wise, yes. But they're rather thick as well. We have a few hanging around the shop at work, and they aren't that comically disproportionate.

spent a few dollars are sears the other week. All american made except the spline wrenches and gearwrenches. I have not got them in the box yet, I'm waiting for my drawer liners to show up from snap on. I think my dealer is pissed i didn't buy a box from him so I asked him to get me liners so he gets a little cash from me.

Got these from Eastwood as part of their fill in the blank sale. I think it was Father's Day. Anyway, $19.95 seemed like a good price for a 7 piece reversible ratcheting wrench set. Wrenches are reversible, have nice chrome, made in Taiwan, branded Kastar on the packaging, stamped Reverse Geartech on the front of individual wrenches, and has Chrome Vanadium Taiwan on the back along with the wrench size. 72 tooth action.
They have a different type of reversing lever. Instead of going left to right, the lever pivots up down. I've seen that on some Blackhawk wrenches too. The metric set I got has 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17mm. I really wished it had an 18mm. SAE sets were also available. The only other place I could find these wrenches was on the Kastar website and they wanted over a $100 for the same set.

I bought them for 352.00 shipped from amazon. It's the cheapest I've ever seen them. The heads are thicker than they look, but the handles are thin. It gives you the most swing arc in a tight spot like hydraulic control valves in heavy equipment.

I keep all my hardware in jars. I've been wanting - needing - something like this forever. Found it on the shelf at HF today when I went there with a buddy who needed tarp for camping this weekend.

A bargain at $2.99:

Got a new air compressor for the shop. 15 HP / 120 Gallon Schulz (was too good of a price to not give a shot).

Just mounted the hour-meter this past weekend. Was going to wire it originally to the coil circuit but figured I would play it safe and wire through an extra NO/NC set on the contactor and have a little 1amp in-line fuse.

I think it's rated for something like 50 CFM @ 175 PSI... It fills up hella-quick and is quieter than the old 5HP / 80 Gallon compressor.

I forgot to post this the other day...more screwdrivers!!
IMG_1376.jpg

Jeff,

I see you getting new screwdrivers all the time it seems like. Where are you getting the orange hard handled stubby, I have had no luck finding a nice used one and part two is it a removable shank or fixed?

Thanks

Patrick

I got the orange handled stubby from one of the members here. It is a fixed shank but you can open it up and remove a small lock washer and the shanks interchange (same with any of the Snap-on hard handle ratcheting screwdrivers)

Craftsman 14. pc master drive set.. 30 bucks on clearance. Yayyyyy US made thin profile ratchets. As well as tips for my snap ring pliers, and a small Empire level (US).

EDIT: Okay, no new posts in over 12 hours? Geez. I picked up some new Klein wire strippers to make it all better.

A 1 7/16 Napa USA socket

A Alemite F-101 grease gun I bought off EBay that was listed as made in USA but I can not find any proof of that. No COO on the box or the gun.

I ordered a 12" hose for it too.

Picked up some oddball missing sockets:

And then went to sears to grab a $11 in store pickup for some metric std sockets 1/4 drive and waited for like 15 mins so they gave me a coupon $10 off next in store purchase, so I went in store, and purchased.

Seems like this forum would have me believe that their Sears experiences typically involve them getting a coupon for breathing. :lol_hitti

I've never ONCE been offered any sort of coupon, and i've had some serious issues with them stretching for weeks.

Its funny because I was posting on my cell phone on another forum about how I was in line for 10 mins yet the avg wait was like 1 min 20 sec. I posted, then they brought my $12 socket set out finally and the kid handed me a voucher and said "Here, take this as well" and I didn't even know what it was until I looked at it closely and realized it was $10 off.

Good deal, honestly. I didn't make a stink at all or anything. I guess it depends on the store and who is working it.

here's mein. i've accumulated them for my new job over the last few months.

i started out buying american. then when yellow freight brought the credit card bill last month my ******* clenched up:shocking: and i had to go back to buying harbor freight imports for the time being. i just picked up the harbor freight 64pc set this afternoon. i exchanged that go-thru set for it. the go thru set kinda sucked.

I haven't done the math but i think i have more invested in this small collection of tools than i do in my harbor freight collection in my craftsman upright (tool box not included).

my phone number is engraved on everything.

Keep an eye on those locking pliers, it can be a real byatch when they go missing. :lol_hitti
I geuse not so much if there not heirlooms. Are the ones that were missing still in you're bag or retired?

I retired those duck bills to my tool box at home. The locking pliers are from harbor freight. The only heirloom in the bag is the malco folding tool and the zip tie thingy.

No screwdrivers or nutdrivers? Don't you guys use a ton of self tapping screws?

The company supplies drills, drill bits and hex bits.

Got a NIB Matco reversible pneumatic cutoff wheel from a gent at work. . .for free. It is so nice to be able to throw sparks in either direction.

Also picked up a Kalamazoo 2x48 belt sander from Enco. Got it for $328 shipped during a Father's Day sale.
