UPS dropped off my new Capri Tools extra long comfort grip ratchet set today. Initial Impressions: I'm digging the 12 inch long 1/4 drive version the most. The 20 inch long 3/8 drive seems pretty stout but, 20 inches is really long in 3/8. The 25 inch long 1/2 drive is a beast and could be used as a club for self defense if necessary.
Excellent chrome, decent balance, crisp 90 tooth action. Out of the box, the only thing I don't care for is the Capri Logo on the ratchet head. Capri tools had one of the best ratchet logos ever with the goat head. Now they've screwed things up by switching to a funky looking C inside a square, with the word CAPRI below that, with CP90 below that. :wtf: Bring back the Goat Head!!! Simple toughness wins.

Where’d you get that deal from? I need a set for the shop.

It was a one-day deal at Home Depot yesterday. The 13 or 15 piece one was there, too, for $109. Don't remember which.

I highly recommend signing up for HD and Lowe's emails, as they each of daily sales with the occasional banger.
The 20 piece is on one day sale at Home Depot for $109 for anyone interested.

I might pick up the long 1/4” since it’s very affordable.

I agree about the logo.

And I’m sure when they release and quick release version of these new 90t next year, I’ll buy all those too.

New to me 72 tooth 216 position Tri-pawl 1/2 inch ratchet or maybe you call it a 6 pawl. Only thre pawls work per direction, the others are retracted like a seesaw or toggle pawl. Can’t find any info online about this ratchet. I haven’t measured it but it feels like it has quite a bit of backlash so it doesn’t give you less swing than 72 ish ratchets. Just got it, so maybe it’s better then I think. No COO on this ratchet, but I think the 216 ratcheting wrenches are only produced in the USA. I’ve lost track of what SK is doing. I've never seen a ratchet like that. where did you get it? Is it a prototype?
The green accents scream Great Star owned SK :dunno:
Never seen an SK quick release ratchet either. :headscrat

I just saw it on eBay. The seller said it was USA, but he thought all SK was USA made. No COO on the ratchet. I think the 216 ratcheting wrenches are USA made, but I might be wrong. I can find nothing on this. That’s pretty much why I bought it. Curiosity makes you end up with a full ratchet drawer.

New Bahco 9031 8" wide mouth adjustable wrench.

I used a friend's Snap-on adjustable the other day and it wasn't half bad, so, not being made of money, I decided to buy a Bahco. So far, so good. I like the handle a lot, it's the first soft grip adjustable wrench I've ever owned. The jaw isn't the tightest, but the smoothness of the adjuster is fantastic. It opens up over 1-1/2", which is larger than all of the 12" adjustable wrenches from other brands that I have. Overall, I'm pretty impressed.

I have a couple of the Crescent versions of that. Works great in tight spaces.

Got a set of 285x wrenches from USAG, they look pretty similar to Mac Tools R.B.R.T but the set is just around 100€ from Italy to Germany :rocker:
I ordered the 12 piece set a few days ago. No idea when it'll arrive.

Any COO info on your set (other than the Taiwanese looking finish)?

Was debating between PB Swiss and this one but for a 3rd of the price I decided to give it a go.

I’m in the super-super minority on these boards with this opinion but I don’t think PB Swiss hex keys are all that great and especially not for the prices they command in the USA. I have used them extensively at work for years and, in my experience, they don’t fit as well as some other brands. Yes, they have an impeccable finish but my Bondhus hex keys fit better and hold-up just the same. I know most guys here swear by them but I’m just not feeling the love. I bet the ones you bought will hold up just as well for a fraction of the price.

I don't think you are in the minority. I have a ton of PB Swiss screwdrivers and love them but when it comes to hex screws I aim for some special profile like Wera Hex Plus, or the Facom OVG / Mac RBRT (although I still don't know how effective they are since I didn't try them since I bought a set).

I'm also not a fan of PB Swiss hex keys. I'll agree that they are nicely made, but the fit is not great, they are too flexible, and they are extremely overpriced for what they are. Personally, I've found Hazet to the best when it comes to hex related items

PB Swiss screwdrivers, on the other hand...best in the business

Add me to this list as well. I have been impressed with Vessel hex keys. The fit and the finish is excellent and they are reasonably priced.

Can you explain what you mean by "too flexible"? All tool steels have nearly the same modulus (within a few %), so the flex should be nearly the same for any two hex keys with the same cross-section.

New to me from a retiring old timer about twenty minutes away from my shop. Couldn't pass it up for $100.IMG_20230609_204417370.jpg

Not sure if it counts, but my feet like it. Made by me from wenge, a substitute, since teak and iroko, is hard to come by at the Rockler and Woodcraft stores by me, and the zebrawood just likes to twist, even in a controlled environment.

Ok, first time I've seen a dog hanging from an engine hoist :ROFLMAO: But it's actually perfect because it can't run away or move too much. Great thinking on that one  "Don't even think about starting up that welder!"

+1 Big fan of the Wera Hex PLus (and the ones with the holding function (ball detent) screwdriver handle specifically.

It probably has more to do with the loser fit on the fastener than the actual metal flexing, but I perceive a flexing-sensation whenever I use the 4mm and smaller PB Swiss keys vs other brands.

Wera has a round shaft, and is thicker, so they should be stiffer, but my Hazet keys are the same design as PB Swiss and they have a more positive feel to them.

The method of how they bend the key into it's L shape could be different, as well, and play into the differences in flexibility

The main difference is the steel PB Swiss uses a type of a spring steel for their Hex keys That makes them „softer“.
I like them more as the Hazet for example, at work, we use to cut the long shank off an PB hex key and solder them in to coresponding sized sockets to make long shank ball hex sockets.
The PB ones outlast the others by a fair amount of time and abuse.

I just got in my Gedore combination wrenches in the mail! These are the 1B series of wrench with the deeper offset on the box end. These were supposed to be for the house but they do not fit into any of my wrench holders. I may have to move these to work as I have way more space in my work box. I don’t know yet because I like these. The wrenches are really light and they have that Gedore media blast-like finish. I won’t lie, a few wrenches have some cosmetic issues but nothing that would make me worry. I’ll be using these soon enough to see how much I really dig them. Initial thought: I still think my Proto combo wrenches are my absolute favorites but these compare very favorably with my Stahlwille sets.
