Snap-on LN47ACF & PBMB5.

20230617_163308.jpg

Did I get these from the local Snap-on truck? No, of course not, they never have anything you'd want, stuff like this is on perpetual backorder and even if it shows in stock, it doesn't show up either. But there are folks on Facebook marketplace with piles of them...

Funny how that works... It's only become worse over the last few years, with all those labor and supply shortages.

Some socket racks, 3 blue, 3 red coming next week.
Seem pretty decent especially for the price. 3 of them for $13.99 plus there is a -10% coupon.
Wait till the next day and order the other color if you want 3 more. It let me apply the 2nd. coupon after midnight!

Great. We really need them to convince the others to bring the prices back down from the moon!

Neiko twist socket set for lug nuts. I have needed one of these sets for awhile and haven’t had one. I needed something like this 3 out of 5 days last week due to rounded lug nuts. I was torn between this set and the Astro Pneumatic set and decided on this one. I had my dad order it from Amazon which we hate using but it was a good price.

^^^^ man that brings back memories. When I was a teenager I put a lot of hours running a 10-10 for a tree service in the Oakland hills cutting trees. Later used a PowerMac 6 to trim them.

Picked these up from Harbor Freight. Been meaning to snag the breaker bar in case I had a flat tire....like I had two weeks ago...ugh. I'm replacing the wide wrench racks with the slim ones for my ratcheting wrenches. Also grabbed the flashlight and the brushes for five and two dollars, respectively.

Couple of items from Astro Pneumatic via Bezos. Doing body work on the Chevelle, need the punch for holes (duh) and the scraper for 50+ year old seam sealer. IMG_4443.jpeg
How do you like that air scraper kit? I found a few videos on the Harbor Freight one which apparently is a huge POS, but I am curious about this one. I can see it coming in handy.

I picked up one of the Linus Tech Tip screwdrivers. Despite the hate on this forum, this is an amazing tool. Fit and finish is top notch. I put together a computer right after I got it, it was a very satisfy screw driver to use for semi precision sizes. I also got to use it for some general use, ratchet works great for backing out sheet metal screws. definitely worth the money when compared to others around this prices.

FACOM heart spring style Dewalt 1/2 inch drive ratchet made in Italy. Really smooth switching. These were discontinued a couple years ago, but are still occasionally found in retailers stock like this one was. $19 was the very fair price on Amazon. Stanley moves production around for their various brands, and some good values can be found. I personally like the flat metal handle style on this one.

Can't say just yet. I only used it for about an hour Monday and I'm not sure I either need to adjust the setting or if I was just holding my tongue wrong. I was using it on 50+ year old seam sealer though, so maybe some areas of the sealer were a bit too much for it. An educated guess would say it'll be great for gaskets, but I think for this sealer I need something in between this and an air chisel (a bit too much, afraid to damage the metal). Or dynamite.

Didn't realize these were discontinued. Too bad, it's a nice ratchet. I have them in 1/4 & 3/8 drive. Very comfortable handle. I always thought of them as a rebadged USAG ratchet. There are Blackhawk versions floating around too with a flat tapered handle. I think the Blackhawks are made in Taiwan though.

Thank you for the reply. I also asked in the Astro Pneumatic thread and the AP guy said that "it's not his favorite." I'll take that as I should pass LOL.

You know what they say about the guy with big wrenches…

IMG_4899.jpeg

So I walk into my favorite pawn shop today, not really even in the mood but I had some time to kill before my meeting. Looked at some decent priced Snap-on wrench sets, socket sets, and a few other things. Nothing that really got my blood pumping. Then I look over on the big table and see these. One of them has been there for at least a year, maybe two, with $29 on it - a 2” ACE Professional. The other 3 have appeared in the last month since I was in the shop exactly a month ago. They are a 2” Allen, a 2-3/8” Proto and a 2-1/2” Proto Professional each with $30 on them. So I’m really not interested at $119 but what the heck, I’ll ask the nice lady what she’ll take for all 4. She gets her phone out and crunches some numbers and hits me with $69 out the door. Don’t know how she came up with that, but I paid her and lugged these dudes out to the truck.

That's worth it just to scare off anything with 2", 2 3/8", or 2 1/2" fasteners from ever entering your life!

Sounds like the “nice lady” was giving you a very strong hint with that 69 price.

Some more Proto from Zoro. The 6pt metric sockets aren’t sizes I usually use but I’m currently, and unfortunately , without a 1/4” set at the house so the 6 & 7mm sockets will come into use. The 20-22mm are just to round out my shallows to match my deeps. The 6” 3/8” locking extension is for my spark plug on the snowblower. The 12” 3/8” extension was actually an accident. I meant to get a 8” but oops. Overall I have been quite happy with my Proto sockets and ratchets. The extensions sit nice on the ratchet square drive but the sockets are rather loose fitting. I’d probably not go Proto for extensions if I were to do it all over from the beginning.
